摘要： PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a flame-retarding auxiliary agent which is safe and inexpensive and gives excellent flame retardance to a thermoplastic resin, especially to an olefin resin.SOLUTION: The flame-retarding auxiliary agent consists of smectite clay particles and has a volume-standard average particle diameter (D) measured by a laser analysis method in ethanol of 5.0 μm or less, a sodium content in terms of NaO in the range of 1.5 to 3.5 wt.%, a diffraction angle 2θ by a powder X-ray diffraction method in the area of 8.5-9.5 degrees, a diffraction peak derived from the [001] face of smectite, and a water content by a drying standard at 150°C of 4.0 wt.% or lower.

摘要： PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provided an auxiliary flame retardant for imparting high flame-retardant properties to a vinyl chloride resin when used concurrently with a small amount of an antimony trioxide.SOLUTION: The auxiliary flame retardant is produced by combining, at a mass ratio of 1:1 to 4:1, zinc borate having 3.5 HO crystal water, and at least one inorganic microparticle selected from among talc having an average diameter of less than 12 μm, bentonite, dolomite hydroxide and sedimentary rocks. High flame-retardant properties is achieved when the auxiliary flame retardant in an amount of 1-3.1 mass% relative to the total amount is added to a vinyl chloride resin composition comprising a vinyl chloride resin, an antimony trioxide, and a plasticizer.

The flame-retardant composition is obtained by mixing 50-250 pts.wt., normally 50-100 pts.wt. of the flame retardant with 100 pts.wt. of especially a combustible polyolefin-based material among a thermoplastic resin and a thermoplastic elastomer.
