The drill assembly includes the drill guide including a shaft 1002 having a proximal end and a distal end, and a guide member disposed at the distal end of the shaft and operable to engage the insertion plate wherein the guide member includes at least one guide bore 1012a, 1012b operable to align with an area of a vertebral bone of the intervertebral disc space to which one of the first and second members of the artificial intervertebral disc is to be attached, and a second alignment element engaging with a first alignment of the insertion plate.

摘要： PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide instruments and methods for inserting artificial intervertebral disc implants that have a moving center of rotation which is at all times maintained within a disc space at the rotational center of the hemispherical ball, for safely and efficiently implanting intervertebral discs.SOLUTION: Apparatuses and methods for preparing a disc space and inserting an intervertebral disc implant therein are disclosed. Among the various instruments, there are disclosed a midline marker (1000), a reference pin drill and insertion guide (1060), a fin drill guide (1314), a chisel guide (1450), a sizer (1508), a serrated broach (1636), an implant dispenser (1756), and an implant insertion tool (1800). Methods of utilizing these tools are also disclosed.

摘要： PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide instrumentation and methods that enable surgeons to more accurately, easily, and efficiently implant fusion or non-fusion cervical disc replacement devices.
SOLUTION: The intervertebral disc replacement device 400 includes: a second mounting element whose base part periphery does not extend over first and second bone screw holes when being engaged with first and second members 500, 600 to cooperate to orient the members 500, 600 for insertion of the members 500, 600 into the intervertebral space of the spinal column; and a stem extended to be apart from the front face surface of the base part and being operable to promote movement of the replacement device 400 and insertion of the replacement device 400 into the intervertebral space in order to perform at least one of the insertion into the intervertebral space and the movement in the intervertebral space without changing the orientation of the first and second members 500, 600 with each other. The stem is formed into dimensions and a shape to be engaged with an insertion handle, one of the stem and the insertion handle has a hole and the other of the stem and the insertion handle has a tapered shaft to be engaged with the holes by friction.
