CONSTITUTION:A first and a second display lamps 3, 4 which consist of an up and a low call button are provided in a hall button 2, and an upward and a downward direction indicating lamps 6, 10 and each floor display lamp 7-9 are provided in an operation display unit 5. The output corresponding to the illuminance of the installation environment of these display lamps 3, 4, 6-10 is output from an illuminance detecting unit 11, and the display lamps 3, 4, 6-10 are energized by a brightness control device 12 with an energy quantity in proportion to the output value. Consequently, even if the direct sunlight enters to the installation environment, the display lamps can be recognized easily. Since the brightness of the display lamps 3, 4, 6-10 is reduced when the light in the installation environment is reduced, lower of the recognition of a marker to be caused by the excessive high brightness of the display lamps 3, 4, 6-10 in comparison with the illuminance of the installation environment can be prevented.

For instance, the lift distance is displayed by lighting the up-lamp 7a, while the cage is first 10cm lifted, and turning off the lamp while the cage 3 is next 10cm lifted. In such a way as mentioned, the cage 3 is stopped in a necessary position by one-time operation.

However, when the power failure lamp 4 does not light on even if the contact point 2b is closed, the continuity relay 8 is kept de- eneergized and the contact point 8a is kept closed, so that the abnormality annunciation means 9 is energized to annunciate abnormality such as a broken bulb of the power failure lamp 4, the wear of a battery 5 and so on.
