    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for removing heavy metals which can remove at a low cost and efficiently heavy metals such as cadmium contained in the material of scallop internal organs and squid gut wastes and is capable of being applied for solution of environment problems. SOLUTION: (1) The material containing heavy metals is charged in a swirling jet flow extracting vessel filled with an inorganic or organic acid aqueous solution and the heavy metals are solved and extracted from the material containing heavy metals by a swirling bubble jet flow of the swirling jet flow vessel. (2) After extracting the heavy metals, the material containing heavy metals together with a liquid in which the heavy metals are solved are discharged from the swirling jet flow extracting vessel and a solid-liquid separation is carried out. (3) A solid part of the material containing heavy metals separated is returned to the swirling jet flow extracting vessel filled with water to wash with the water by a swirling bubble jet flow of the swirling jet flow vessel. (4) The aforementioned processes of 1-3 is carried out once or more than once. (5) The heavy metals are removed from a liquid containing the heavy metals discharged from the swirling jet flow extracting vessel by a flocculant, adsorbent or ferrite method; a precipitate is dewatered to discard; and a supernatant liquid is neutralized in a neutralizing vessel to recycle to the above processes.     • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain useful substances utilizable as the fodder of stock and poultry, the baits of fish and shellfish, foods or the like from the guts of scallops by removing harmful metals such as cadmium therefrom and making the same harmless. SOLUTION: The cadmium removal system for the tissue of of scallop gut includes: a cadmium elution stage (1); a suspended solid removal stage (2); a cadmium-removed aqueous solution preparation stage (3); a cadmium-removed aqueous solution circulation stage (4); and a stage (5) where a solid treated material and a liquid treated material are separately extracted from the final treated material in the stage (1). The dipping conditions in acid, the elution conditions with water and the frequency of the repeat in the stage (1) are controlled so that the content of cadmium based on the dry mass in the final treated material in the stage (1) becomes ≤1 ppm.     • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To efficiently remove cadmium in the tissue of the internal organs (hereinafter abbreviated as the tissue) of scallops to the concentration of a reference value of ≤2.5 ppm for feed, preferably ≤0.8 ppm for food by using the minimum amount of an effluent.
      SOLUTION: The subject method for removing toxic metals successively performs the following processes: (1) impregnating sufficiently the tissue with an inorganic acid water solution; (2) removing the excess inorganic acid water solution from the tissue impregnated with the inorganic acid; (3) lixiviating the inorganic acid and toxic metals to the outside by bringing the tissue into contact with a water solution of lower concentration than those of the inorganic acid and the toxic metals in the liquid existing in the tissue or into contact with water containing no inorganic acid and toxic metals; (4) removing the excess inorganic acid water solution from the tissue with the lower concentration of toxic metals; (5) lixiviating the inorganic acid contained in the tissue to the outside by adding an alkali water solution for neutralization and further for removal of the toxic metals in the tissue; (6) separating and recovering the tissue from which the toxic metals are removed from the alkali water solution.
