The resin material 23 filled into the annular grooves 24 extends along the open end surfaces to the outer peripheral surfaces of the first and second housings 20, 21.

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To effectively cool a substrate of an electric pump.
      SOLUTION: A centrifugal pump sucks cooling water into a liquid chamber 68 to deliver it as an impeller 1 is rotated in the liquid chamber 68 adjacent to a motor 2. The motor 2 includes a metal motor casing 6 holding a rotor 4 and a stator 5 and rotatably supporting a shaft 3, and a box shape substrate holding part 8 holding the substrate 7. A section at the motor 2 side of the liquid chamber 68 is divided by the motor casing 6. The substrate 7 is arranged on a bottom wall 81a (heat radiation part) of a metal substrate holding part 8. The substrate holding part 8 is arranged at a section at a radial direction side of the shaft 3 in the motor casing 6, and the heat radiation part is integrally attached to the motor casing 6. In the motor casing 6, a cooling channel 90 is formed which communicates with the liquid chamber 68 and in which cooling water flows, and the heat radiation part faces the cooling channel 90.

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To plastically mold a hollow cam shaft of a hollow material easy of heat treatment.
      SOLUTION: Diameter shrinking deformation is applied to a plurality of axial positions on a first thick and hollow raw material 10 with stepped portion rollers 28a, 28b pushed thereagainst in the rolling state. The diameters of portions adjacent to the diameter-shrunk portions are each made larger than the diameter of the raw material with thickness transformation due to diameter shrinkage. Then, portions adjacent to the diameter shrunk portions are machined into large diameter portions 7a-7b having predetermined diameters to form a second raw material. Against the large diameter portion of the second raw material at its surface on the opposite side to the top side of a cam 2b' to be molded into the large diameter portion, a freely rolling cam roller 30a is pushed with force to apply plastic deformation to the surface of the large diameter portion. The second raw material is turned alternately in both directions in a range of about 180°. During this time, the cam roller is moved forward/backward so that a contact portion between the large diameter portion and the cam roller passes through a track along the shape of a cam. Thus, the cam is plastically molded with thrusting deformation by the cam roller.
