    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the problems wherein a complicated mechanism is required for removing shoots, present on an unspecified surface of potato having an indeterminate shape, by automatically recognizing the positions of the shoots, especially, although often high cost of installation is required, in a method that uses expensive image processing for detection of the positions of the shoots, and in a method for removing the shoots together with the skin, the yield would be reduced because a large amount of parts which need not be removed is removed.
      SOLUTION: Dry ice blast is used as a method by which the whole outer periphery including swollen parts, as well as, recessed parts can be removed uniformly, in a method for removing the shoots with the peel.

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a composite insulator formed with a core rod made of porcelain and a sheath made of a high polymer material by engaging them by contact friction.SOLUTION: Disclosed is a composite insulator, comprising: a core rod 2 formed of porcelain and having a friction part on its outer peripheral surface; and a sheath 3 formed of a high polymer material, coating the outer peripheral surface of the core rod 2 in a state of engagement by contact friction with the friction part, and having a plurality of shade parts 7; the friction part being made of a convex and/or concave shaped structure 8, and the structure 8 being formed integrally with the core rod 2. The structure 8 is continuously formed in a line shape or in a dotted line shape along a circumferential direction and/or longer direction of the core rod 2. Also, the structure 8 is composed of a first structure formed by being wound in spiral around the outer peripheral surface of the core rod 2 in one direction, and a second structure formed by being wound in spiral in a direction opposite to the one direction. The core rod 2 has a plurality of minute porcelain pieces 9 on a part of or on a whole region of its outer peripheral surface, and the minute pieces 9 being formed integrally with the core rod 2.

The power supply device includes a protection circuit 302 for converting a voltage obtained on a space electrode 301 to an appropriate voltage to prevent an excessive voltage, a rectifying circuit 303 for converting a voltage from the protection circuit from AC to DC, a charging battery 304 for storing electricity to be outputted from the rectifying circuit, a voltage detector 305 for detecting a voltage of the charging battery, and a voltage generator 307 for intermittently outputting a voltage required for a load 308 of the measuring apparatus from the detected voltage.
