SOLUTION: This ballpoint pen is composed of a front holder part and a rear holder part which is extensible and contractible in relation to the front holder part. The front holder part is composed of a front holder main body whereon a mouthpiece is screwed, a ballpoint pen refill, a slide tip piece which is made to project to a position of hiding the point of the ballpoint pen refill by the medium of a first spring, a pressing short rod which enables pressing of the slide tip piece, and a lock mechanism which is provided inside the front holder main body. The lock mechanism comprises a slide ring fitted idly on a core tube, a second spring, a lock tube and a regulating piece provided in projection on the core tube. The regulating piece is made to get in a groove for guiding and engaging the lock tube, and the rear holder part is fitted on the lock tube and extended by rotation so as to expose the point of the refill, while the tip of the slide tip piece can be projected to and stopped at the position of hiding the point of the ballpoint pen refill by pressing the rear holder part.
