    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a metal drilling tool which can effectively drill an outermost side of a hole. SOLUTION: According to the structure of the metal drilling tool, distal ends are connected together via a bridging section extending from an outermost distal end of a first cutting edge component element to the center of an insertion tool, and the bridging section is inclined toward a first line that is a median line of the center of the insertion tool and a common point. Further an innermost distal end of a second cutting edge component element is arranged on one side of the outermost distal end of the first cutting edge component element closer to the median line, and a second line extending in parallel with a longitudinal axis and passing the outermost distal end of the first cutting edge component element crosses the second cutting edge component element.     • PURPOSE: To reduce the degree of overhang unsupported on a tool seat by setting a first relief flank angle significantly greater than a second relief flank angle when an intermediate portion bridging a first portion to a second portion is directed across the first and second portions. CONSTITUTION: At least one cutting edge 2 is formed between a cutting rake surface and a relief flank surface 6 of a replaceable cutting insert 1 for use in a peripheral rotary milling cutter. The relief flank surface 6 is provided with a first portion defined between the cutting edge 2 and an intermediate portion of the relief flank surface 6, and a second portion defined between the intermediate portion and a base 24 of the insert 1. The first portion presents a first relief flank angle, and the first relief flank angle is greater than a second relief flank angle presented by the second portion. The stability of the insert 1 during operation and the dulability of the cutting edge 2 can thus be increased.

    • PURPOSE: To restrain heating in cutting, and prevent damage of a work and a tool by properly molding chips produced in the cutting, and forming an insert shape so as to smoothly move the chips by a bypassing means. CONSTITUTION: An insert 1 has the top surface 2, the bottom surface 3 and front/side relief flanks 4, 5, 6, the cutting edge 14 is formed in a recessed shape on the top surface 2, and the cutting edge 14 becomes positive at least a central portion 14c. A chip forming means 16 is provided inside a rake surface 15 to form a pair of curved chip deflector surfaces 16a, 16b. The deflector surfaces 16a, 16b are formed into a recessed shape in the shaft direction and in a projecting shape in the lateral direction, and uniformly incline in a direction of a valley portion 18 toward the bottom surface 3 from the side relief flanks 5, 6 so as to merge with the valley portion 18 through a smooth curved angle. The lateral direction of the deflector surfaces 16a, 16b uniformly reduces to a minimum value adjacent to respective surface peaks from a maximum value adjacent to the rake surface 15. Chips are properly crushed/moved in the said shape.
