    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electrode wire for electric discharge machining, along with a method of manufacturing the same, capable of improving the degree of surface roughness of a workpiece, by reducing a minute cut of the electrode wire during an electrical discharge machining.SOLUTION: The method of manufacturing the electrode wire for electric discharge machining includes: a step of preparing wire comprising a first diameter of a first metal as a core wire 21; a step of plating a second metal on the core wire 21; a step of thinning the core wire plated by the second metal into a second diameter, and at the same time, of forming wrinkles 23a of a constant pattern on the surface of the thinned wire with the second diameter; and a heat treatment step of forming a first metal alloy layer 22 at the boundary between the core wire and the second metal by the interdiffusion of the core wire and the second metal, and of forming a second alloy layer 23 at the contour of the first alloy layer by the diffusion of the first metal to the second metal.

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electrode wire for electric discharge machining which causes less occurrence of fragments and particles of the electrode wire during electric discharge machining and has improved surface roughness and an improved machining speed.SOLUTION: An electrode wire for electric discharge machining comprises a first metal core wire composed of copper consisting of one phase selected from α phase, α+β' phase and β' phase, a first alloy layer of β' phase formed by a second metal plated on the outer surface of the core wire, in the boundary of the core wire and the second metal through mutual diffusion between the second metal and the core wire, and a second alloy layer having γ phase and/or ε phase formed by diffusion of the first metal in the direction toward the second metal.
