    • PURPOSE: To obviate the occurrence of fine defect and fissures by forming a cavity to delineate the shape of a hard ball by a die and upper and lower punches having specific shapes in a process for production of sintering a molding formed by compression molding of raw material powder. CONSTITUTION: The upper punch 1 has the cavity having the hemispherical or semielliptic inside surface corresponding to the half of the hard ball at its front end. The lower punch 4 has the cavity having the partially spherical inside surface of the shape corresponding to the shape near the vertex of the shape of the hard ball at the front end facing the cavity of the upper punch 1. The die 3 has the inside surface shape capable of delineating the shape of the hard ball together with the inside surface of the cavity of the punches 1, 4 and has the through-hole to allow the insertion of the punch 4 in the bottom peak part of the inside surface. These punches and die are used and after the raw material powder is loaded into the cavity formed by the punch 1 and the die 3, the punch 4 is passed into the through-hole and thereafter, compressive pressure is applied thereon from behind the punch 4, by which the raw material powder is compression molded.
