This boundary detector 3 sends a detection signal d2 to a finger language data memory device 4 when the detector detects the boundary of the finger language words. The normalized finger language data sent from a normalizing device 2 is previously stored in the finger language data memory device 4 which sends the finger language data stored thus far to a finger language recognizer 5 when the detection signal d2 is set to the memory device. What finger language is the inputted finger language is recognized in this finger language recognizer 5 by using the finger language data of every finger language word inputted from the finger language memory device 4 and the finger language word data stored in a finger language word dictionary 6. The recognized results are sent to an output device 7 and are outputted in the form of characters and voices.

At a minimum cost candidate selecting part 140, the values calculated by the processing parts 120 and 125 are compared and the best candidate is selected out of the word string candidates. At a Japanese translating part 145, a Japanese expression is performed based on the best analysis of the calculated word string candidate.

    • PURPOSE:To obtain a surface emitting semiconductor laser in which a polarizing face can be controlled electrically in a definite direction by a method wherein a substrate-side electrode having an opening part emitting a laser beam is formed on the side of a substrate, a central electrode is formed on the side of a reflecting film and a circumferential electrode is formed around it directly above an active layer. CONSTITUTION:An n-side electrode 6 having an opening part 5 is formed on the side of a substrate 1 by using an AuGe/Au multilayer film. As electrodes on the side of a reflecting film 3, a central electrode 7 and a circumferential electrode 8 are formed directly above an active layer 4 by using an AuZn/Au multilayer film. For example, when a current is made to flow across a central electrode 7 and a substrate-side electrode 6 and, at the same wime, a current is made to flow across one circumferential electrode 80 and the substrate-side electrode 6, the polarization direction of the emitted beam of light can be controlled in a direction in which the central electrode 7 is connected to the center of the circumferential electrode 80. Consequently, a polarizing face can be decided in a prescribed direction in a surface emitting semiconductor laser, and the polarizing face can be changed to an arbitrary direction when it is controlled electrically.

CONSTITUTION:A polarizing element 2 is so arranged behind the light emitting surface of a surface emitting semiconductor laser 1 that the light in the polarization direction at the time of oscillation start of the surface emitting semiconductor laser 1 can permetate the polarizing element 2. When the current value is changed from the current value I1 before 90 deg. rotation of polarized wave is generated to the current value I2 after the rotation has been generated, the light permeating the polarizing element 2 is extinguished. When the current value is inversely changed from the value I2 to the value I1, the light permeates the polarizing element 2. Hence the ON/OFF of the light with very high extinction ratio is possible by a very narrow current driving range. The period of ON/OFF of the light can be inverted by setting the polarizing element 2 in the manner in which the light polarized vertically to the above direction permeates the element.

For example, when one group is aimed at, the maximum value among weight values of combination between the neurons in the group and neurons in other groups is judged as the degree of importance of the group. The value is set to the weight value of combination connecting the neurons in the group and neurons which belong to the more important group are converged faster.
