    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce a planar space by providing guide rollers on the inlet side of a steel strip and the guide rollers and driving rollers on the outlet side, providing a main roller between both guide rollers and pressing this main roller to the steel strip from the lower part. SOLUTION: A pair of upper and lower inlet-side guide rolles 2 and outlet- side guide rollers 3 are provided on the inlet side and outlet side of the steel strip 1. A pair of upper and lower driving rollers 4 are provided in the rear stage of the outlet-side guide rollers 3. The main roller 5 is provided between the inlet-side guide rolles 2 and the outlet-side guide rollers 3, the main roller 5 itself is freely rotatable and freely verticaly movable by attaching to a jack which is driven by oil pressure or the like. After the steel strip 1 is set on the main roller 5, the steel strip 1 is grasped with the driving rollers 4 and, by raising the main roller 5 while pressing it to the steel strip 1 upward from the under-side, tension is applied to the steel strip 1. When the main roller 5 is raised to a prescribed height, the steel strip is transferred while applying required tension to the steel strip 1 with the driving rollers 4.
