    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To produce an aerogel sheet in which aerogel is supported on fibers without performing supercritical drying.
      SOLUTION: A sol solution is obtained by adding a silicon compound having a hydrolyzable functional group and a non-hydrolyzable functional group to an acid aqueous solution including a surfactant and a thermally hydrolyzable compound, in which hydrolysis of the thermally hydrolyzable compound is suppressed by cooling. Then, a substrate (a nonwoven fabric 11) having structure in which a first and a second fibers 111 and 112 comprising a polymer material are entangled and a basis weight of 200 g/m
      2 or less is impregnated with the sol solution obtained. A gel sheet 1a is obtained by heated to a temperature no less than the temperature at which the thermally hydrolyzable compound hydrolyzes and also the first fiber 111 melts and less than the temperature at which the second fiber 112 melts. The aerogel sheet is obtained by replacing moisture contained in the gel sheet 1a by an organic solvent and subsequently by drying the gel sheet 1a under the conditions that the temperature and the pressure are less than those of the critical point of the organic solvent.
