      SOLUTION: A quilting machine as a sewing machine is equipped with a feeding unit which feeds a fabric, a sewing machine unit which sews the fabric, and the winding unit 13 which delivers a quilting sewn by the sewing machine unit while winding it. The winding unit 13 is equipped with a driving roller 22 for which a driving pulley 32 is fixed to a shaft core 22a, first and second idling rollers 23 and 24 which are constituted in such a manner that shaft cores 23a and 24a idle in the longitudinal direction to the driving roller 22, and an urging pulley 62 equipped with an urging means 64 which urges in a separating direction to the driving pulley 32. First and second idling pulleys 43 and 44 are fixed to the shaft cores 23a and 24a of the first and second idling rollers 23 and 24. A timing belt 65 is stretched between these pulleys 32, 43, 44 and 62.

      SOLUTION: The needle detector includes a drive motor for transferring the objects to be detected by a transfer belt; the needle-detecting sensor for detecting the passage of metals in the objects to be detected as changes in induced voltage; and a control part for adjusting the detection sensitivity of the induced voltage of the needle-detecting sensor and outputting it. The control part includes a speed control substrate for controlling the rotational speed of the drive motor and a digital main substrate, capable of storing a correlation curve (A) of a plurality of transfer speeds of a standard metal and sensitivities corresponding to the transfer speeds and a similar correlation curve (B or C) of a sample metal and setting a prescribed threshold value (K or K1) between both curves. When an object to be detected is transferred, optimal sensitivity corresponding to the set transfer speed of the object to be detected is automatically computed and set, on the basis of sensitivity acquired on the basis of both curves.
