As the cassette is removed, the stopper shaft 23 and the stopper 18 are pushed up by a force of the plate spring 24 and the ink ribbon cassette 1 is lifted. There is no damage to the bottom surface of the cassette 1.

When a signal for changing over the ribbon color is received, a change-over signal discriminating circuit 23 discriminates the color of the ribbon, and a ribbon change-over quantity calculating circuit 24 calculates a movement quantity to be designated to a stepping motor controlling circuit 22. The calculation result is converted into a number of pulses by the controlling circuit 22, the motor 5 is driven, and the ribbon of the desired color is positioned at the head 14.

    • PURPOSE:To enable to shift a ribbon to an arbitrary position without vibrating a cassette-fitting base, by a method wherein an arm for rotating a ribbon cassette fitting base is rotated by a predetermined angle at a time by two kinds of solenoids. CONSTITUTION:To shift up the ribbon from the lowermost first position to the second position for printing, an electric current is passed to the first solenoid 38 to protrude an operating rod 46, thereby pushing up the arm 28 against a spring 42. Then, a pin provided on the arm 28 pushes up the cassette-fitting base 20 while moving in a slot 32 provided in a plate member 24 of the base 20, thereby positioning the base 20. To shift up the ribbon to the third position for a correcting operation, an electric current is passed further to the second solenoid 40 to retract an operating rod 48, thereby drawing the other end of the arm 28 through a pin 50 provided on the rod 48. The ribbon is returned to the first or second position by stopping the passage of the electric currents to the solenoids 38, 40.
