摘要： In an optical pick-up position detector, an optical pick-up is movable by a motor in radial directions of an optical disk for detecting signals on the optical disk. A driver applies a driving voltage to terminals of the motor for forward or reverse rotation of the motor according to a control signal from a controller. The controller has an input terminal connected to a power supply via a resistor and further has a control terminal for outputting the control signal to the driver according to an electric potential at the input terminal of the controller. A switch is disposed between the input terminal of the controller and one of the terminals of the motor. The switch changes its operating state when the optical pick-up moves to exceed a reference position in a radially inward or outward direction with respect to the optical disk. The switch may be connected to the input terminal of the controller via a diode.

摘要： PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce noise caused when a lubricant layer on a magnetic disk is smoothed.
SOLUTION: A magnetic disk device is provided with a read/write mode parameter table 85 which is used to generate a current that is supplied to a voice coil motor, when a magnetic head conducts data writing or reading to or from the magnetic disk. Moreover, the magnetic disk device is provided with a smoothing mode parameter table 84 to generate a current that is supplied to the voice coil motor, when neither data reading nor writing is conducted for the magnetic disk. A CPU controls the current being supplied to the voice coil motor while referring to either the parameter table 85 or the parameter table 84. When a lubricant layer smoothing event is generated, the CPU generates a current to be supplied to the voice coil motor by referring to the parameter table 84 and performs a smoothing process of the lubricant layer while the magnetic head is being sought between the outermost peripheral track and the innermost peripheral track of the magnetic disk.
