    • PURPOSE:To eliminate the flow rate error of a flowmeter resulting from the difference in attitude of a flow velocity sensor so that the flow rate of a gas can be stably measured by calculating the flow rate of a fluid to be measured without relying upon natural convection from the output signal of the natural convection found by intermittently heating a heater and the output signal of the flow velocity sensor. CONSTITUTION:When a microcomputer 25 issues an instruction, natural convection is generated or stopped by intermittently turning on or off the heater element 4 of a flow velocity sensor 10 and, in addition, immediately after the heater 4 is switched from the turned off state to turned on state, the output signals of an upstream and downstream temperature detecting resistance elements 5 and 6 are inputted to a differential amplifier 22 and the output data of the amplifier 22 are caught and held at two times designated by the microcomputer 25. The data are inputted to the microcomputer 25 after A/D conversion 24 and the microcomputer 25 calculates an output signal based on the natural convection. In addition, the microcomputer 25 calculates the flow rate of a fluid to be measured without relying on the natural convection from the output signals of the natural convection and sensor 10.

    • PURPOSE:To perform temperature correction with a simple means by inputting the output signals of thermistors for measurement to a differential amplifier as differential input signals and offsetting the output variations of the thermistors caused by the change of the ambient temperature. CONSTITUTION:When a fluid to be measured flows through a measuring flow passage 1a, the electric current flowing to the thermistor for measurement 2a of a constant-resistance circuit 3a is increased so as to heat the thermistor 2a by the temperature lowered by the flow of the fluid so that the surface of the thermistor 2a can be maintained at a constant temperature. Since no fluid current comes into collision with a thermistor 2b for comparison, the current flowing to the thermistor 2b does not increase. Therefore, when the signals corresponding to the heating currents of the thermistors 2a and 2b are inputted to a differential amplifier 4, the flow rate of the fluid to be measured flowing to the thermistor 2a can be measured without receiving any influences from the change of the ambient temperature. When this method is used, temperature correction can be easily performed by taking the difference between the outputs of the thermistors for measurement and comparison without using any complicated analog arithmetic circuit, etc.

    • PURPOSE:To obtain an air velocity sensor in an output signal of which an error hardly occurs even when the temperature of air current to be measured changes sharply and which has high responsiveness. CONSTITUTION:This air velocity sensor 10 comprises a base 12, and a thin-film temperature-measuring resistor 14 for a heater and a thin-film temperature- measuring resistor 16 for temperature compensation are formed on the base 12. The thin-film temperature-measuring resistor 14 for the heater and the thin- film temperature-measuring resistor 16 for temperature compensation are formed in the same shape and dimensions and each of them is formed by applying Pt, for instance, on a rectangular alumina base of a thickness 0.15mm, for instance, by laser trimming or etching. On the base 12, moreover, a circuit of fixed temperature method is formed as a is formed as a detecting circuit 18, which is connected to the thin-film temperature-measuring resistor 14 for the heater and the thin-film temperature-measuring resistor 16 for temperature compensation.
