    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cobalt alloy matrix composition suitable to a spattering process. SOLUTION: The cobalt alloy matrix compositions are formulated as Co f1 -(M u O v ) f2 (wherein, M represents base metal selected from the group consisting of magnesium, titanium, vanadium, chromium, manganese, iron, nickel, copper, zinc, aluminum, silicon, yttrium, zirconium, niobium, molybdenum, ruthenium, indium, lanthanum, hafnium, tantalum and tungsten, u and v represent the number of atoms of the base metal M and oxygen (O) per oxide formula, respectively and f 1 and f 2 are mole fractions represented by the equation f 1 +(u+v)f 2 =1), and the single-element matrix cobalt based granular media alloy composition by the above formula, is produced. The producing method includes the steps of blending Co-M master alloy powder and Co u' O v' powder into a corresponding formula (Co a M 1-a ) f1' -(Co u' O v' ) f2' and densifying the blended powders.
