    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and an apparatus for removing nitrogen by which problems of ratio regulation of ammonia (NH
      4 ) and nitrous acid (NO
      2 ), hindrance by BOD (biological oxygen demand) components in anaerobic ammonia oxidation process and nitric acid remaining in treated water by the anaerobic ammonia oxidation process are simultaneously solved, performance of the anaerobic ammonia oxidation process can be improved and further size of the apparatus is not enlarged.
      SOLUTION: Ammonia waste water containing the BOD components is distributed into two routes by a distributor 12 with a predetermined partition ratio and ammonia in one distributed waste water is nitrified to nitrous acid in a nitrification tank 14 to form 1st treated water. On the other hand, another distributed waste water is subjected to denitrification treatment by denitrifying bacteria in a denitrification tank 16 to form 2nd treated water. Then the 1st treated water is joined with the 2nd treated water and obtained mixture is sent to an anaerobic ammonia oxidation tank 18 and further 3rd treated water treated in the anaerobic ammonia oxidation tank 18 is circulated to the denitrification tank 16.
