A picture signal variation point and an original characteristic code are outputted from an original characteristic giving means 17 in accordance with characteristics of the picture signal inputted to the detection means 9, read to the CPU32 through an input channel 35, and written to an original characteristic memory area of the magnetic disk device 34 as original characteristic data.
