    • PURPOSE:To remove a noise component and to increase a reproduced output by rotating the polarized surface of reflected or transmitted light from an optical magnetic recording medium so as to branch into two parts and controlling the polarized surface in the direction where the low frequency component of a differential output obtained by photoelectrically transferring a detection output comes to zero. CONSTITUTION:An optical magnetic disk 2 with a magnetic film 2 is rotated by a motor 3, and light out of a linear polarization semiconductor laser 4 is irradiated on the magnetic film 2. The reflected light from the magnetic film 2 is led to a beam splitter 10 and a four-division photodetector 13, and makes incident on a polarization prism 16 through a 1/4 wavelength plate 14 and a convex lens 15 so as to branch into two parts. The branched light makes incident on photodetectors 17a and 17b, is converted into an electrical signal and inputted to a differential circuit 22. Its output is led to a terminal 23 as a reproduced signal output and to an LPF 24, and its low frequency component is detected. Then the rotating angle of the wavelength plate 14 is controlled in the direction where the low frequency component comes to zero. Thus the noise output included in the reproduced signal is removed in such a way, whereby the reproduced output can be increased.

    • PURPOSE:To attain a rewriting action by inserting a parallel flat glass plate so that the laser scattered light is transmitted twice and using a turning device so that the normal spectrum is set parallel or oblique to the optical axis. CONSTITUTION:The light S sent from a semiconductor laser 1 is made incident on a polarizing prism 3 and reflected by a reflecting mirror 5 after passing through a parallel flat glass plate 2 and a 1/4 wavelength plate 4. This reflected light S passes through the plate 2 again via the plate 4. Thus, the laser light S travels to and comes back from the plate 4 and is turned into the light P having its polarizing plane turned by 90 deg.. This light P is made incident on a collimator lens 6 and circularly polarized via a 1/4 wavelength plate 12 to be recorded at a recording part 10 of a disk 9. The reflected light sent from the disk 9 passes through the plate 12 with its polarizing plane turned by 90 deg. and turned into the light S. Then the light S is reflected by the prism 3 and made incident on a detector 8. The detector 8 performs the reproduction, etc. of the recording signal by the reflected light. Here the plate 2 functions to set the normal vector parallel to an optical axis A in a recording/reproduction mode to prevent the generation of astigmatism and also to set the normal vector oblique 2' to the axis A in an erasion mode to prevent the generation of astigmatism respectively.

    • PURPOSE:To obtain an optical head whose focusing servo and tracking servo do not disalign from each other by continuously varying the astigmatism of luminous flux made incident on an objective lens in switching between recording- reproduction mode and deletion mode. CONSTITUTION:To record a signal on a disc vapor-deposited a recording thin film, a laser beam modulated according to the recording signal is condensed to a small beam spot having about 1mum diameter and irradiated on a information recording plane 10a to satisfy the quick heating and cooling condition, and the signal is recorded. To reproduce the recorded signal, a continuous laser beam of about 1/10 of the output for recording is condensed to the beam spot likewise as in recording and irradiated on the plane 10a, and the quantity of reflected light beam is detected by adding the output signals of detectors 13 and 14. To delete the recorded signal, a continuous laser beam is condensed to a small elliptical beam spot having about 1mumX10mum diameter long in the advancing direction of the disc, and irradiated on the plane 10a to satisfy gradual heating and cooling condition, and the recorded signal is deleted.
