At the time of completing the read of the content of the buffer memory 15, a switching signal 31 switching from the MPU1 to the buffer is informed to the switching circuit 11, thereby, the switching of the buffer memory is performed. By repeating such operation sequentially, it is possible to fetch a great number of data in the MPU at a high speed.

Then, the black reference reading signal 21 is changed to L and scans on an original 2, the output signal of the ROM16 is latched to a latch circuit 17 and a selector circuit 18 outputs alternately difference latch data 30 and data '0' from an input terminal 19 as a correction signal 31. The picture signal from an A/D converter 6 is inputted to an adder 20, added to a correction signal 31, and the picture signal in which the output level is set by the odd number picture element and the even number picture element is obtained.

    • PURPOSE:To improve the SN ratio and resolution of an image signal, and to increase the quantity of variation in image density and improve picture quality by providing a multiplier,a sample holding circuit, an amplifier, an adding and averaging circuit, and a resolution correcting circuit. CONSTITUTION:An analog image signal which is not processed by the multiplier 14 multiplying an analog image signal held by the sample holding circuit 13 by an analog coefficient of shading correction and the amplifier 15 is converted by an A/D converter 7 into a digital iamge signal, and the adding and averaging circuit 16 calculates the additive means for a predetermined number of main scans at each picture element position. When the adding and averaging processing is carried out for the image signal, noise components cancel each other, so the SN ratio of the image signal is improved. When an original 2 carries an image with small density variation, a reproduced image also has small density variation and is hard to see. For the purpose, the density variation of the original image is increased by the amplifier 15 so as to obtain an easy- to-see reproduced image. Further, the resolution is corrected by a resolution correcting circuit 2.

Two or more kinds of comparing windows set in the setting device 35 are selected and used according to scanning of a memory scanning device 40. A picture signal reproducing device 39 and a logical arithmetic section 19 are controlled through an output picture signal memory 37. Thus, fixed bordering is made possible at all times and expanding or contracting processing is made effectively.

The circuit 26 selects the picture signal level, that is a value the last data of which is converted in the scanning window, from the data of the circuit 29, the picture signal level is obtained by comparing the level and the binary level V obtained from the circuit 23 and the value of the difference of both picture levels is given to the next scanning window as a correction volume E.

The converted value of the picture signal obtained from a gradation correcting curve drawn on a normalized input density versus normalized output density coordinate plane is stored in the memory 13 and a data converted value v7 is obtained in response to the correcting curve by the address v6.
