    • PURPOSE:To obtain an optimum head cap without depending upon the thickness of a recording medium by energizing a platen toward a guide member and displacing it in response to the thickness of the medium. CONSTITUTION:A distance l between the discharge port of a head cartridge 9 and the front face of a platen 34 is optimally regulated for printing, a recording sheet inserted in a direction A is energized by a feed roller 39 toward a roller 33, and fed by its frictional force. The end of the sheet is inserted between the scraper 34A of the platen and the inside of the front face 45 of a paper pan against the force of a spring 82 while rotating the platen 34 in a direction B at a shaft 41A as a rotating center. The face 45 is suitably regulated at a gap to the discharge port forming surface, and fixed. Accordingly, the sheet on the platen 34 is held at an optimum head cap to the discharge port of a head cartridge 9 by escaping the plater 34 in the direction B without depending upon the thickness of the sheet.

    • PURPOSE:To stabilize the sheet feeding performance by furnishing a backward movement preventive means to prevent the backward movement of sheets when laminated sheets such as postcards are fed backward. CONSTITUTION:On a pressure plate type sheet supporter, sheet stoppers 13A and 13B to prevent the backward movement of sheets 6 in the direction B are furnished. The sheet stoppers 13A and 13B are furnished at the positions responding to the lateral and longitudinal sizes of the sheets 6, and arranged to maintain the laminated sheets 6 at a specific loading position even at the time of feedback of the uppermost sheet. Moreover, the sheet stoppers 13A and 13B are made to be folded in the arrow C directions, and they are folded when ordinary sheets are inserted manually. Consequently, at the time of feedback of a feeding roller 1A, the backward movement of the sheets 6 is prevented and the deterioration of sheet feeding performance owing to the disorder of sheets can be prevented.

    • PURPOSE:To enable stable feed of paper always regardless of a change in environment by constituting a separation protrusion with a protruding part with a plurality of steps which have different overriding forces. CONSTITUTION:A separation protrusion 30 consists of a plurality of steps with different overriding forces, e.g. two-step separate protruding parts 30-1, 30-2. The overlapping value of the separate protruding part to a feeder roller 2 is set by providing a less overriding force R for a first step protruding part 30-1 than that R for a second step separation protruding part 30-2. When the environmental conditions are low temperature and low humidity, the sheet (such as postcard) 1 is firm, so that it can easily be separated by one piece, even if its overriding force to the first step 30-1 is small. When the environmental conditions are high temperature and high humidity, the postcard is not firm and therefore, its coefficient of friction is large. Consequently, even if more than two pieces of sheet passed through the first step 30-1, the first sheet alone is separated in the second step 30-2 to perform precise paper feed, because its overriding force to the second step 30-2 is larger than that to the first step 30-1. Even when the environmental conditions ranging from low temperature, low humidity to high temperature, high humidity change significantly, stable separation feed performance of paper can be maintained.
