    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an absorbent which is used for removing a very small amount of carbon monoxide in a gas or a liquid, has large removal capacity, is hardly affected by other adsorbing materials and is stable and from which a metal is hardly eluted into the liquid even when this absorbent is used in the liquid and which is, if necessary, manufactured from an easily-accessible raw material and contains no halogen.
      SOLUTION: This carbon monoxide absorbing solid is composed of a copper compound and an ion exchange resin and is manufactured by adding the ion exchange resin in a solution of copper salt and removing the used solvent. Copper (II) salt is used as the copper salt. The copper salt containing no halogen can also be used. It is particularly suitable that a chelate resin is used as the ion exchange resin.
