    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing glass and a glass-melting apparatus by which high quality glass can be stably molten and supplied for a long period of time, to provide a method for producing glass base materials for press forming by which the high quality glass base materials for press forming can be mass-produced with high reliability, and to provide a method for producing optical elements by which high quality glass optical elements can be mass-produced with high reliability.
      SOLUTION: The method for producing molten glass comprises charging a glass raw material in a melting vessel made of a platinum alloy or of a material obtained by incorporating zirconium oxide or calcium oxide into platinum in a dispersed state, and melting. The melting vessel has a discharge port for molten glass which is provided at the bottom part, and a discharge pipe communicated with the discharge port, and the bottom part of the melting vessel having the discharge port and the discharge pipe is formed by a unified material. The method for manufacturing glass comprises after charging a previously vitrified raw material in a vacant melting vessel and heating/melting, charging the glass raw material in the melting vessel and melting. Further, the melting vessel made of the platinum alloy, the glass base material for press forming, an optical element blank, and the method for manufacturing the optical element are also provided.
