    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a hybrid recording and reproducing head for high density recording with enhanced reliability for data recording and reproduction.
      SOLUTION: The hybrid recording and reproducing head includes: an energy supply source 204 for supplying energy to heat up an area in which data are recorded; magnetic field application means 208, 210, 214a, 214b for applying a magnetic field to record data onto a local area heated by the energy supplied form the energy supply source 204; and a data reproduction means for reproducing data from a recording medium, and each magnetic field application means comprises: a channel for delivering the energy supplied from the energy supply source 204 to the local area; a member surrounding the channel to prevent heat from being delivered from the channel to its surrounding; a data recording pole surrounding the thermal transmission preventing member; and a magnetic field generating means causing the data recording pole to generate a magnetic field.

Therefore, even in case the first joint layer 7 of the composite block 9 is deteriorated, the non-megnetic material 3 of the composite block 9 and the soft magnetic material of the second reinforcing member 10' are coupled magnetically, and no problem is generated on a magnetic circuit.

    • PURPOSE:To obtain a magnetic head which handles a medium with high coercive force and is suitable for high-density recording by forming an amorphous soft magnetic film on the gap surface of a ferrite core. CONSTITUTION:The amorphous soft magnetic film 4 is formed on the gap surface 2 of the core 1 by sputtering and annealed in a DC or rotating magnetic field. A Co-Fe-B, Fe-B, Co-Ta, Co-Zr, or Co-Zr-Nb film, etc., is used as the amorphous soft magnetic thin film. The thickness of the amorphous film is about 0.5-10mum, and the magnetic permeability is superior even at >=10MHz and at least >=3,000.
