    • PURPOSE:To transfer favorable images even onto an ordinary paper having a low surface smoothness, by providing a releasable layer comprising a surfactant and a film-forming material comprising a film-forming thermoplastic or thermosetting resin on a sheet-shaped base, and providing a heat-fusible coloring material layer comprising an organic substance melting at a predetermined temperature and a coloring agent on the releasable layer. CONSTITUTION:A thermal transfer recording material comprises a releasable layer provided on a sheet-shaped base, the releasable layer comprising a surfactant and a film-forming material comprising a film-forming thermoplastic or thermosetting resin, and a heat-fusible coloring material layer provided on the releasable layer, the coloring material layer comprising an organic substance melting at a predetermined temperature and a coloring agent. With the releasable layer provided on the base, transferability of the coloring material layer at the time of thermal transfer is enhanced. Though it is advantageous for enhancing the transferability to set the concentration of the surfactant in the releasable layer to be higher, the film-forming properties of the layer is lowered as the concentration of the surfactant is increased. Thus, the releasable layer is composed of 0.1-80% of the surfactant and 20-99.9% of the film-forming material comprising a thermoplastic or thermosetting resin or the like which has a film-forming property, is solid at normal temperature and has a softening point of at least 150 deg.C.

    • PURPOSE:To improve the resolving power by approximating a transfer body to a photoconductive toner layer without contacting and irradiating light in the exposure process to reduce the electric charge of electrification and transferrinmg a toner to the transfer body by the electrostatic force to develop an image. CONSTITUTION:The electric charge of electrification in an area 12, to which the rays of light are irradiated, of a photoconductive toner layer 11 is flowed through a toner holding body 14, and the electric charge is attenuated there, but the electric charge of electrification in an area 13 to which light is not irradiated remains as it is. In such a state, the transfer body 15 is approximated to the photoconductive toner layer 11 without contacting. The transfer body 15 is backed with a developing electrode 16, and a bias electric field is impressed there from a bias power source 17, and the toner in said area 12 of the photoconductive toner layer 11 is attracted to the transfer body with the electrostatic force by this bias electric field. The toner in said area 13 is hardly attracted to the transfer body because its adhesive strength to the toner holding body 14 is high because of the electric charge of electrification. Thus, a negative toner image is obtained on the transfer body 15, and a positive toner image is obtained on the toner holding body 14.

    • PURPOSE:To prevent peeling of a coating layer and to secure superior fixability by binding a colorant and a soft resin both for forming a core material, and a thermoplastic resin for forming a coating layer with each other to form microparticles and allowing these microparticles to coexist in the boundary layer in a mixed state. CONSTITUTION:The colorant and the soft resin for forming the core material and the thermoplastic resin for forming the coating layer are bound with each other to for microparticles and they are allowed to coexist in the boundary layer between the core material and the coating layer in a mixed state. The microparticles of the colorant are dispersed in an aq. soln., the soft resin microparticles are dispersed into another aq. soln., and both dispersion solns. are mixed to be coagulate from the mixed solns. and to obtain the core material composed of the colorant and the soft resin, and this coagulated soln. is mixed with a dispersion soln. dispersing the microparticles of the thermoplastic resin, and the mixture of both dispersions are spray dried. The toner thus obtained is prevented from the coating layer because the boundary between the core material and the coating layer is in a continuous state, and since the total body is of a porous compsn., the coating layer does not hinder the fixability of the toner. In the figure, black circles are the soft resin, white circles are the soft resin, and the other ones are the thermoplastic resin.

    • PURPOSE:To obtain toner which has excellent offset resistance and a wide fixation temperature range by using resin within a specified complex elastic modulus range as resin that serves as binding components of toner for electrostatically charged image development which consists of coloring material and binding components. CONSTITUTION:Thermoplastic resin as binding components of toner for a heat roller uses such resin that the real part of a complex elastic modulus is 5X10 - 5X10 Pa and the imaginary part is 5X10 -2X10 Pa at a 140-220 deg.C temperature. Consequently, the toner for heat roller fixation enters a rubbery plateau area and a fluid area of a relaxation spectrum at the fixation temperature (140-220 deg.C). The relaxation spectrum of the elastic modulus of the resin varies with the molecular weight of the resin, molecular weight distribution, degree of crosslinking, degree of crystallization, etc. Toner made of resin having said elastic modulus, on the other hand, has superior fixing performance regardless of the molecular weight, molecular weight, molecular weight distribution, degree of crosslinking, degree of crystallization, etc., and its fixation temperature range is wide.
