      SOLUTION: This columnar member comprises: a first channel metal member 26 which is formed by roll forming, and cold working and hot working, such as press working, and which has web 22, a flange 23 and a rib 24; and a second channel metal member 30 wherein a web 27, a flange 28, an inside rib 29 and a second web 27a are formed. The columnar member constituted by assembling the channel metal members is characterized as follows: the inside rib 29 of the member 30 abuts on the rib 24 of the member 26; a part, where the inside rib 29 of the member 30 abuts on the rib 24 of the member 26, is joined by joint means 31 employing a drill screw, a bolt, a rivet, welding, adhesion, etc.; and a structurally stabilized closed loop including a flat part and a cavity is formed on a side surface along the webs 27 and 27a of the member 30.
