    • PURPOSE:To generate double beams to provide an optical system in which the decrease of radiation brightness is prevented by forming a radiated light transmitting hole in an anode and a metal diaphragm on an optical axis passing the center of a small hole forming discharge passage and forming an ultraviolet ray transmitting window in the bulb. CONSTITUTION:In a heavy hydrogen discharge tube, while surrounding a metal diaphragm 2, respectively, a cathode 3 and an anode 4 are installed in a bulb 1 in which heavy hydrogen or hydrogen is sealed and a discharge passage communicating both electrodes through a small hole in the diaphragm is formed. Transmission holes 4' and 6, 6' for radiated light are formed respectively in the anode 4 and the diaphragm 2 on the optical axis passing the center of the small hole 5 and at the same time ultraviolet ray transmitting windows 8, 9 are formed symmetrically in the bulb 1 on the optical axis. Consequently, radiated light is obtained from two direction and an optical system is obtained wherein the system does not need to use a beam splitter and has two times higher brightness than a conventional one and in which attenuation of radiated light does not occur. As a result, an optical apparatus whose S/N ratio is improved and which has high sensitivity and can detect faint concentration is obtained.

    • PURPOSE:To achieve the long life of a lamp by closing the outgoing opening of a convergent mirror airtight with a cover that transmits only visible ray, and by either making it in a closed spatial vacuum condition, or making it filled with inert gas. CONSTITUTION:The emission center of an emission tube 1 falles on the focal point of a rotational paraboloid convergent mirror 2 provided with a visible ray reflecting film on the inner surface 3. The outgoing side opening of the mirror is covered with a cover plate 9, and a space 11 surrounded by the mirror 2 and the cover plate 9 is closed airtight. The space 11 is made to be in a vacuum condition, or is filled with inert gas. As the cover plate 9, for example, the plate on which a multilayered deposition film that preferentially reflects the light of wavelength of no shorter than 0.7-0.8mum, is mounted on the outer surface of hard glass that absorbs ultraviolet, is used. Since the emission tube 1 can be enlarged thereby, the life of emission tube 1 can be made longer due to the reduction in tube wall load. The transmission of ultraviolet as well as infrared can be suppressed by the cover plate 9.

    • PURPOSE:To determine the lighting time range to obtain stable light and to perform analysis highly precisely by sticking a membrane of a substance which photo-reacts by ultraviolet rays to a discharge pipe. CONSTITUTION:A membrane 6 of a substance which is photoreactive by ultraviolet rays is stuck to a bulb 1. Ultraviolet-rays emitted from an electrode part 3 are repeatedly reflected and transmitted in the thickness of the bulb 1 made of quartz and transmitted to the photoreactive substance membrane. The transmitted ultraviolet-rays radiate the phototreactive substance membrane 6 and due to the accumulation of the radiated light, the photoreactive substance membrane 6 changes its color in proportion to the lamp lighting period. As a result, transmitted light or the quantity of the reflected light is detected optically or by visual observation of the photoreactive membrane and the terminal period of a discharge lamp is easily judged.

Hence, the orienting property of radiating direction can be increased.

    • PURPOSE:To have easy lighting/starting with low impression voltage by providing molybdenum foil in close contact with the outer wall of a light emitting tube, and by constituting so that the width of molybdenum foil is specifically related to the wall thickness of the light emitting tube. CONSTITUTION:By a molybdenum wire 21, molybdenum foil 20 is fixed to a lead 14 in close contact with the exterior surface of a quartz light emitting tube 11 and put in electrical contact with an electrode 18. Here the construction is such that d>=0.6a, where d is width of molybdenum foil, and a wall thickness of light emitting tube. Mercury, halide metal, and xenon gas for lighting/starting are encapsulated in the light emitting tube 11. At the time of lighting/starting, an electrode near the ground potential is impressed on the electrode 18 and a stretching voltage on another electrode 17, and now discharge destruction will occur in the space between the electrode 17 and foil 20. Because the width of foil 20 is sufficient, fine discharge generated around the electrode 17 propagates easily along the foil 20 to attain the electrode 18.
