    • PURPOSE:To detect the shape of a surface crack accurately, by providing a mechanism which can drive a potential difference measuring head in the axial and circumferential directions of a piping to detect the shape of a crack by the measurement of a potential difference distribution on the inner surface of the piping. CONSTITUTION:A measuring head 23 is provided with feeder terminals 24 and 24' for feeding a DC and measuring terminals 25 and 25' for measuring potential difference to measure a potential difference distribution about a detect. When inspecting a pipe in a wide range, the head 23 is arranged at a position facing it at 180 deg.. To scan with an inspector, a compressed air is supplied to an air cylinder 26 to press the head 23 on the inner surface of the pipe and a DC is supplied to the terminals 24 and 24' to form an electric field about a defect. The pipe is scanned circumferentially being turned by a fixed angle to measure a potential difference distribution about the defect. This enables the judging of the shape of the defect from the potential difference distribution.

CONSTITUTION:A relay dolly 5 fitted with sensors for moving amount and attitude, which can travel on a wall surface, is run between a reference surface device 3 to give level reference and an inspection dolly 6 equipped with sensors for moving amount, attitude, and for inspection, which is capable of traveling on the wall surface of a nuclear reactor pressure vessel 30. The position of dolly 5 relative to the reference surface device 3 is sensed, and therefrom the position of dolly 6 is sensed. Therein the device 3 having the free level of water is coupled with a pressure sensor on the dolly 5 through a water hose, and further coupling is made with a pressure sensor on the dolly 6 through water hose and reference level device mounted on the dolly 5, and thereby the positions are sensed. These are controlled by a control part 2, and the inspection signal is processed by an inspection part. In this manner, position sensing and cable processing are backed up with the dolly 5, and precise sensing of the running position and a stable running are accomplished.

    • PURPOSE:To run a running body precisely so as to follow an inherent running line by installing a running line detecting sensor, a liquid level detecting sensor, and a laser beam detecting sensor, an inclined angle detecting sensor and a position detecting sensor on the running body. CONSTITUTION:A welded part detecting sensor 25 mounted on a running body running on a container, detects a welded part 6 so as to run a running body the use of the detected welded part 6 for navigation. However, since there is presented a position where no detection signal can be obtained due to a small difference in metal grain boundary, another signal is used for navigation at this position, instead of the above-mentioned detection signal. That is, in the case of a circumferential direction of the container, a pressure sensor mounted on the running body detects a level of liquid so as to know the height of a welded part, and the running is controlled in accordance with the signal. Further, in the case of the vertical direction of the container, a laser beam is set on the welded seam, and is detected by a light receiving line sensor 26 mounted on the running body while the posture of the running body is detected by inclined angle sensors 30, 33 so as to control the posture of the running body.

    • PURPOSE:To enable accurate control of the position of a probe without the use of a copying sensor, by correcting the scanning origin position of the probe according to the tilt angle of a flaw detection arm even when the flaw detection arm is tilted following 3-D saddle-like changes of an object to be welded and a weld part of a welding object. CONSTITUTION:An ultrasonic flaw detector 11 is made up of a track 12 provided on a nozzle 9, a driver 13 running on the track 12 and a scanning section 15 for scanning a weld part 10 with a prove 14 at the right angle thereto 10. Moreover, the scanning section 15 is made up of a flaw detection arm 16, a holding section 17, a container 8 and a scan driving section 18 for pressing the arm 16 against a container 8 following 3-D saddle-like changes in the weld part 18 between the container 8 and the nozzle 9. Then, the probe 14 scans the weld part 10 parallel therewith 10 with a driver 13 running on the rail 12 by the scanning section 15 perpendicular to the weld part 10. Moreover, the position of the probe can be corrected and controlled regardless of setting condition of the nozzle 9 of the unit 11 and setting conditions of probe scanning original.
