    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a rotary electric machine capable of improving magnetic pole position detecting accuracy, by effectively reducing the amount of leakage flux passing through a magnetic pole position detector. SOLUTION: The rotary electric machine is provided a rotor 19 supported by a rotary shaft 16, a stator 23, a magnetic pole position detector 28 attached on the rotary shaft 16, stator frames (24A, 24B) made of a non-magnetic material and supporting these. The leakage magnetic flux of the rotor 19 uses the rotary shaft 16 as a magnetic path. The magnetic path of the magnetic flux is formed on a first magnetic circuit, circulating in the radial direction from the rotary shaft 16 through the magnetic pole position detector 28; and a second magnetic circuit detouring from the rotary shaft 16 and reaching the external periphery of the magnetic pole position detector 28.     • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a permanent magnet type rotary electric machine of low vibration and low noise, by eliminating the use of a skew in determined current and voltage conditions so as to prevent decreasing of torque and to decrease the pulsation torque. SOLUTION: A plurality of permanent magnets 36A, 36B, 36C in each magnetic pole are arranged in a permanent magnet insertion hole 34, in a manner of symmetrically placing with respect to the rotational direction of a rotor 30 and asymmetric with respect to the lengthwise direction of the rotor. The respective permanent magnet insertion hole includes first permanent magnet insertion holes 34B, 34C positioned in between both poles of the magnetic pole and a second permanent magnet insertion hole 34A positioned at the pole center of the magnetic pole.
