    • PURPOSE:To obtain an optical connector which has good positioning accuracy and is easily fitted to a coated optical fiber end part by positioning optical connectors mutually with a substrate made of ceramic or metal and a lid plate, forming optical fiber insertion holes in a resin molding provided integrally in the substrate, and inserting and fixing optical fibers. CONSTITUTION:In the substrate 32, the hole 35 is formed between positioning grooves 34 in the same direction with the positioning grooves 34, the resin molding 36 is filled in the hole 35, and the necessary number of optical fiber insertion holes 37 are formed in the resin molding 36 in parallel while maintaining a specific position relation with the positioning grooves 34. Further, the resin molding 36 has a part 36a projecting from the rear end surface of the substrate 32 and guide grooves 38 used to insert the optical fibers into the optical fiber insertion holes 37 and a clad part mounting groove 39 for the coated optical fibers are formed in the top surface of the projection part 36a. A positioning pin 43 is held by the internal surfaces of the positioning grooves 34 and the reverse surface of the lid 33 and held in specific position relation with the optical fibers inserted into the optical connector insertion holes 37.

    • PURPOSE:To surely detect the submersion to an optical fiber cable by curving a spring member, fixing its state by a water breaking member, allowing an optical fiber to pass through two parts of the spring member and holding it linearly. CONSTITUTION:A bending member 1 whose cross section is semicircular is fixed to the center part of a spring member 3 with an adhesive as shown in the figure (a), and on both sides of the member 3, a notch groove 2 is provided as an optical fiber holding part. Subsequently, by curving the member 3, fixing a water breaking member 4 consisting of band-like Japanese paper to both ends by a stopper 6, and allowing an optical fiber 5 to pass through the groove 2 as shown in the figure (b), a submersion detector is constituted. In such a state, when the detector is brought to submersion, the member 4 is groken and the member 3 returns to the original shape, the optical fiber 5 is bent as shown in the figure (c) and the light transmission quantity decreases. Therefore, by monitoring this decrease variation from the emitting end face of the optical fiber 5, the submersion can be detected.

    • PURPOSE:To allow preciser axial alignment by forming a blanked part in correspondence to an aperture on the rear surface side of a body, thereby suppressing the deformation of the body. CONSTITUTION:The blanked part 10 having the same shape as the shape of the aperture 9 is provided on the rear surface of the plastic body 2 of the ferrule 1 so as to communicate with a hollow part 6. The ends of respective optical fibers which are paralleled in a parallel state at the time of mounting the ends of the multiple optical fibers into the ferrule 1 are simultaneously inserted from an insertion surface 4 side into the hollow part 6 of the body 2 and are respectively separately inserted into respective parallel holes 71 to 74. The end faces of the respective optical fibers are held flush with a butt surface 5 and thereafter, an adhesive is injected from the aperture 9 into the hollow part 5 in order to fix this state. The nonuniformity in the inside thickness of the upper and lower parts of the body is eliminated in this way, by which the camber of the body is prevented and the precise axial alignment of the end parts of the optical fibers with each other is executed.

    • PURPOSE:To increase the transmission loss to surely detect submersion by providing an optical connector plug matching part in a water-absorbent displacement part and displacing connector plugs in the direction orthogonal to the axial line at the time of submersion. CONSTITUTION:A submersion detector 10 is attached to submersion monitor coated optical fibers 12 and 12' and consists of a pair of optical connector plugs 14 and 14' matched to each other, a storage case 16 having a water inlet hole 16a where these plugs are stored, and a water-absorbent displacement part 18 arranged in this case. When water penetrates the case through the water inlet hole 16a, a water-absorbent expansible material 18A is expanded to forcibly push plugs 14 and 14' in the direction orthogonal to the axial line, and a gap 15a is generated in the matching part 15. Consequently, the transmission loss of fibers 12 and 12' is considerably increased. This increase is measured in one end by a pulse tester to surely detect submersion.
