    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a carrier which does not change the picture quality even for long-term use, a developer which uses the carrier, and a method for developing and a developing device which use the developer so that reproducibility for thin lines and uniform reproduction of dots with a small diameter can be obtained and excellent resolution is realized. SOLUTION: The carrier has an outer shell layer formed in the form of coating a spheric particle having magnetism, with the outer shell layer having recesses and projections based on the fine particles included in the layer. Moreover, the outermost surface of the carrier is coated with a silicone resin film. The carrier is specified that the average height difference in the recesses and projections is 0.1 to 2.0 μm, that the proportion n/Sc of the number n of the projections to the surface area Sc calculated from the carrier particle size is >=1.0 [μm ], or that the fine particles consist of metal oxides or the like.
