    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a speed change device that is capable of performing smooth speed change control.SOLUTION: A speed change control part includes a motor which rotates a ring gear of a planetary gear mechanism of a speed change part through a control gear, and a motor control part for controlling operation of the motor. The motor control part includes a drive control part for controlling the ring gear to make desired rotation by driving an electromagnetic coil of the motor and a regeneration control part for performing regeneration of energy from the electromagnetic coil of the motor at the time of deceleration of the rotation of the ring gear. The regeneration control part has a first regeneration mode in which the regeneration is performed by setting a first regeneration section whose center is placed at a zero-cross point of an induction voltage generated in the electromagnetic coil, and a second regeneration mode in which the regeneration is performed by setting a second regeneration section whose center is placed at the maximum point of the induction voltage, with widths of the first and second regeneration sections being set so that an amount of the energy regenerated in the first regeneration mode is equal to or smaller than an amount of the energy regenerated in the second regeneration mode.

A rocker 86, located in each pocket, pivots about a pivot center to engage the cam ring, and a spring member 44 urges each rocker 86 to pivot toward engagement with the cam ring. A hydraulically actuated friction brake secured to the carrier alternately holds the carrier against rotation relative to a housing and permits the carrier to rotate.
