SOLUTION: The wireless video image transmission apparatus includes: a video type identification means 118 for discriminating a type of video frames to be transmitted; an error detection means 120 for detecting the occurrence of a transmission error in the case of transmission of the video frame; a number of retrials storage means 110 for measuring the number of consecutive occurrence times of transmission errors by each frame type; and a number of retrial setting means 105 for storing a maximum number of retransmission times by each frame type, and sets the maximum retransmission times of intra-frames greater than that of the other frames, retransmits the video frames until the number of consecutive occurrence times of transmission errors reaches the maximum number of retransmission times and aborts the video frames when the number of consecutive occurrence times of transmission errors exceeds the maximum number of retransmission times. Further, the wireless video image transmission apparatus prioritizes the transmission order of the intra-frames and carries out preferential transmission of the intra-frames for a band guarantee period.

SOLUTION: When a decoding error in an MB is detected, an error mode setting means 20 sets an error mode to an inverse orthogonal transform unit 14 and a motion compensation prediction unit 18, and the inverse orthogonal transform unit 14 and the motion compensation prediction unit 18 carry out processing by setting a prediction error to 0 and a motion vector to 0. A reference image selecting section 17b counts the number of referenced times for each of reference pictures in reference index list (RIL) information and selects a reproduced picture, whose number of referenced times is a maximum among the reproduced pictures saved in an image memory 16 as a reference picture, when the error mode is set to the reference image selection section 17b, and the motion compensation prediction unit 18 reads the reference picture. Thus, the MB related to the error is replaced with an MB corresponding to the reference picture with the highest correlativity.
