    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical head capable of recording information in an optical recording medium with high density and reading information, which is recorded densely, sensitively though its constitution is simple. SOLUTION: In a distribution feedback type laser 11, an active layer 12 is inserted by clad layers 13 and 14, the first reflecting members 15 having periodical waveformed structure is formed closely to the active layer in one of the clad layers, the second reflecting member 20 including a metallic film 22 having the emitting window 22a of a fine opening formed is formed on one end face and the third reflecting member 23 is formed with a multi-layered dielectric film on the other end face. The optical recoding medium 27 arranged at a near field is irradiated with laser beams intensity-modulated by information emitted from the emitting window of the laser 11 to perform recording. Laser beams reflected by the optical recording medium is returned to a distribution feedback type laser through the emitting window and voltage change occurring between current injecting electrodes to reproduce recorded information. Otherwise, the returned beams are amplified by the distribution feedback type laser and the laser beam emitted from the third reflecting member is photodetected by an optical detector to be reproduced.

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical pickup suitable for miniaturization and capable of recording and reproduction to the optical disk or recording surface of different corresponding wavelengths. SOLUTION: This optical pickup is provided with a first light source for emitting a first light beam having a first wavelength, a second light source for emitting a second light beam having a second wavelength longer than the first wavelength, a condensing lens for converging the first and second light beams to the information recording surface of a recording medium and a diffraction optical element arranged in an optical path from the first and second optical sources to the condensing lens. The condensing lens converges the diffracted light beam of a first diffraction order of the first light beam from the diffraction optical element as information reading light or information recording light and converges the diffracted light beam of a second diffraction order lower than the first diffraction order of the second light beam from the diffraction optical element as the information reading light or the information recording light.
