    • PURPOSE:To enable the selection of stamp characters at a high speed with little damping by applying a stop time pulse excitation signal when a step-motor does not rotate in a stamping machine employing a rotary rubbing action. CONSTITUTION:A character selection starting signal (b) is inputted into a start trigger circuit 20, which outputs a step-motor rotation signal (d) to a selector circuit 27. A rotation index signal (a) from an optical sensor 14 is shaped in the form including the pulse width with a control circuit 21 and inputted into a doubling circuit 22, which transmits a rotary index half signal C with a half cycle to be inputted into a counter circuit 23 and a motor control circuit 26. A signal of oscillation circuit 24 is passed through a one-shot circuit 25 and stop time pulse excitation signal (h) is inputted into the selector circuit 27. The selector circuit 27 checks to determine whether step-motors 6 and 11 and rotating or not and outputs rotary excitation signals (e), (f) and (g) when they are rotating or a stop time pulse excitation signal when they stop.

    • PURPOSE:To obtain a type-selecting mechanism capable of stably detecting a home position with little error, by a method wherein an output from a sensor is chacked by rotating a stepping motor in both direction when detecting a home position. CONSTITUTION:A sensor 4 is a magnetic sensor using a Hall IC having such a characteristic that the output thereof is turned ON when a magnet 3 approaches thereto and the output is turned OFF when the magnet 3 is moved away therefrom, and the home position is a position D where the magnet 3 and the sensor 4 are directly faced to each other. When a controller 5 drives the stepping motor 1 to rotate clockwise while checking the output of the sensor 4, the output of the sensor 4 is turned ON at point A, and is turned OFF at point B spaced from point A by a displacement (a). Then, the controller 5 drives the motor 1 to rotate counterclockwise. When the output of the sensor 4 is turned ON at point C spaced back from point B by a displacement (b), it is known that the home position D is located at a position spaced back from point C by c=(a-b)/2. Even when the output characteristic of the sensor 4 is varied as indicated by a broken line, the position of the home position D is invariable.
