    • PURPOSE:To enable to eliminate simply the residual magnetism of a steel material by a method wherein plural independent magnets are connected to form an independent magnetic path in the material to be demagnetized, and excitation is performed changing over between positive and negative to perform demagnetization. CONSTITUTION:U character type magnets consisting of yokes 5, magnetic poles 6, 7 and exciting coils 8 are equipped on a frame 10 extending over nearly the whole length of a steel material 1 interposing a nonmagnetic material 9 between them and connected. When it is necessary to demagnetize plural steel materials 1A-1D at the same time, the length of the magnetic poles 6 or 7 is decided in accordance with the number of the materials. When the quality of material of the steel material 1 is a common steel, demagnetization can be executed simply by making a demagnetizing current being 50-100% of the magnetizing current to flow by one cycle. When the quality of material is a special steel, demagnetization can be executed simply by making a demagnetizing current being 100-300% of the magnetizing current to flow, but when the quality is, for example, chromium molybdenum steel or high manganese steel, two cycle demagnetization reversing the polarity is effective.

    • PURPOSE:To convey works smoothly, by aligning many electromagnets along the way of conveyance and sequentially and repeatingly exciting each grouped magnets from the side of work entrance. CONSTITUTION:Exciting coils M11-33, aligned along a rail 6 on which steel pipes 2 are rolled and transferred in the arrow direction, are grouped. The coils M11, M21, M31 positioned on the sie of work entrance of each group are connected with a line A of an excitation controller 30, while other coils M12 are connected with a line B and coils M13 with a line C, and each line A, B, C alternates positive and nagative excitation at cycles per time t by means of the controller 30. The negative excitation reduces residual magnetism in each magnetic pole and facilitates adsorption with the following magnet. Thus the magnetic force functions as driving force in the direction of transfer for rolling the steel pipes 2 on the rail 6, which provides smooth conveyance of the works at a preset velocity.
