    • PURPOSE:To improve the heat retaining properties, measuring accuracy of viscosity and operating economy of a heating furnace by fitting a plug having a loose fitting hole for a vibrating piece into an insertion port of a sample container of the heating furnace, and providing the loose fitting hole with a furnace lid. CONSTITUTION:A though-hole 22 is formed in an up-and-down direction of a main body 21 of an electric furnace. A core pipe 23 is fitted in the hole 22. Moreover, a plug 26 is detachably fitted in the hole 22. The plug 26 has a square hole 26a allowing a vibrating piece 3 to pass therethrough at the center in a diametrical direction from an upper opening of the pipe 23. The upper opening of the plug 26 is closed by a furnace lid 27 which is freely opened. Even when the lid 27 is closed, there are secured a loose fitting hole into which a vibrating rod 4 is loosely fitted, and an insertion hole for inserting a protecting pipe having a wire of a thermocouple inserted. Therefore, while the temperature of a melt 1 in a crucible 2 is measured, the radiation from the melt 1 can be shut off by the plug 26 and lid 27, with improving the heat retaining properties. As a result, the temperature distribution of the melt 1 can be maintained good, so that the measuring accuracy of viscosity is improved. In addition, the power consumption is saved.

Further, a filter 12, 16 for discharging a liquid phase is provided to the inside of the cylinder body 11 and/or a surface pressed by the piston. Further, a hole 13 for discharging a solid phase penetrating a cylinder wall is provided to the pressure resistor cylinder body 11. As the result, a time required for discharging the solid phase is shortened, and the time required for repeating the operation cycle is shortened. Moreover, the purity of the product is improved. Furthermore, the discharge of the solid phase is facilitated even if a level of the solid phase after the solid/liquid separation is low, or the solid phase is soft or semi- solid.

Therefore, uniform mirror-like surface finishing can be carried out, even for a broad polished surface, and the mirror-like surface finishing with fine surface roughness for the polished surface is permitted.

    • PURPOSE:To produce a composite material thoroughly penetrated with a matrix metal into reinforcing fiber materials in the stage of producing a fiber-reinforced composite metallic material by putting the preheated reinforcing fiber materials into a casting mold having an air permeable partition member in the bottom part, pouring a molten metal for the matrix from above the same, vacuum-evacuating the gas from the lower part and pressurizing the materials. CONSTITUTION:The reinforcing fiber materials 8 such as carbon fibers, alumina fibers or SiC fibers having high strength and high elasticity are preheated and are put into the casting mold 1. The partition member 4 formed of porous ceramics or 150-300 mesh metallic screen is placed in the bottom of the casting mold 1 and is supported from below by a reinforcing plate 5. The melt 9 of the light metal such as Al, Mg or the alloy thereof is poured onto the reinforcing fibers 8 in the casting mold and while the gas in the fibers 8 is sucked and removed from a vacuum discharge port 7, the molten metal 9 is pressurized and solidified by a plunger 10. The light metal which is the matrix metal is thoroughly penetrated into the reinforcing fiber materials 8 and the fiber-reinforced composite metallic material having the excellent reinforcing characteristic by the fiber materials is produced with a good yield.
