摘要： PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a nonlinear optical material which exhibits a nonlinear optical effect of higher order, is easily synthesized and has improved ray transmittance, moldability, mechanical strength, thermal oxidation stability and low toxicity by using a polyazomethine based polymer consisting of specific repeating units. SOLUTION: This nonlinear optical material consists of the polyazomethine based polymer incorporating the repeating units expressed by the formula. In the formula, R, R' denote hydrogen atoms, phenyl groups or alkyl groups; X denotes a (substd.) conjugation group, etc., such as arom. group. This optical material may be formed by copolymerizing non-conjugation parts, such as polymethyl methacrylate, or an org. group contg. silicon and an org. metal complex having electron withdrawing and electron donating substituents with the polyazomethine base polymer compsn. Further, the polyazomethine base polymer compsn. has preferably an amino group, carbonyl group or substd. phenyl group at its terminal.

摘要： PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To realize high sensitivity measurement of glass transition point for polymer by applying a voltage to a sample in order to increase the temperature thereof, irradiating the sample with light and observing a second harmonic emitted from the sample. SOLUTION: An electric field is applied from a DC power supply 8 to a sample 7 which is then irradiated with a pulse light emitted from a titanium sapphire laser 1. Basic wave of the light is reflected on two dichroic mirrors 10 to pass the second harmonic. The second harmonic is condensed through a lens 11 onto a slit of a monochromator 12 and only the second harmonic is detected by means of a photomultiplier 13. The laser light is modulated by means of an optical chopper 9 and the second harmonic is detected using a lock-in amplifier based on the modulation frequency. While increasing the temperature of sample 7 in an electric furnace 6, intensity of the second harmonic is monitored and the relationship between the temperature and the intensity of second harmonic is studied. The results are plotted and the glass transition point is determined based on the temperature dependency of intensity.

CONSTITUTION: A polyimide thin film is formed on an Si substrate, and a core thin film becoming the slab-type waveguide of a single mode is set by polyimide varnish. A hologram 7 is formed on the uppermost layer (clad) of the generated slab waveguide by anisotropic dry etching which is mainly composed of photolithography and O2 , and the waveguide is connected to light-emitting/receiving elements. An ITO transparent electrode is formed on the hologram 7. Organic EL is generated on the electrode. An upper electrode consisting of Ca is formed on the electrode, and an electrode 14 and a semiconductor layer 11 are made into a pattern by photolithography and RIE. The element is subjected to bias in a forward direction and it is made into the light-emitting element. Plural LSI chips (a clock control element, a memory, an arithmetic processor or the like) are arranged on the module substrate, and the whole are sealed by resin materials.
