摘要： PURPOSE: To obtain a thermal transfer sheet having a high sensitivity, a reduced running noise at the time of transfer, and a good gradation reproducibility and preventing misregistration for realizing an image quality of a higher sharpness and obtain an image forming method using this sheet. CONSTITUTION: In a thermal transfer sheet, a substrate, a release layer, and an ink layer containing 30-70wt.% pigment and 25-65wt.% amorphous organic high-molecular polymer having a softening point in the temperature range of 40-150 deg.C and ranging 0.2-1.0μm in layer thickness are provided in this order. An image-receiving sheet is overlapped on the ink layer of the thermal transfer sheet. On the back surface of the thermal transfer sheet, a thermal head is pressed. In this manner, a transfer image formed with an area gradation of a 1.0 or more optical reflection density is formed on the image-receiving sheet. Furthermore, the obtained transfer image is again transferred onto another white substrate. In this manner, a retransferred image formed with the area gradation of the same density is obtained.

CONSTITUTION:A photosensitive sheet 11 is constituted of a ink-acceptable photosensitive layer 13 formed on an ink-acceptable substrate (photo) 12 and further, an ink-nonacceptable layer 14 formed on the photosensitive layer 13. The photosensitive layer 11 is exposed and developed to be modified to a photosensitive sheet 15 on which the ink-nonacceptable part made of an ink- nonacceptable layer 14 and the ink-acceptable part made of the substrate (photo) 12 are formed. Further, a resist ink-layer image-forming surface of the photosensitive 11 and an ink-layer acceptable surface of a image reception sheet provided with the ink-layer acceptable surface having an adhesive property to a hardened resist ink-layer are brought into surface to surface contact with each other and are heated and pressurized to form a laminated body of the photosensitive sheet 11 and the image reception sheet. After the resist ink-layer is hardened by being irradiated with an active light beam, the photosensitive sheet 11 and the image reception sheet are peeled to form an image on the image reception sheet.

CONSTITUTION:After an original position is set, a photosensitive sheet 12 is sucked by a suction disk 40 to be transported to a drum 18 and a second pin 28A is inserted in a round hole 12A to complete the mounting of the photosensitive sheet 12 on the drum 18. The rotation of a heating pressure roller 44 is started to move a release pawl 64 to the position corresponding to the drum 18 and the drum 18 is rotated. By this constitution, ink is selectively bonded to the photosensitive sheet 12 from an ink sheet 50. A moving stable 78 on which an image receiving sheet is placed is moved to superpose the photosensitive sheet 12 and the image receiving sheet 72 one upon another so as to allow the leading ends of both sheets to coincide. The photosensitive sheet 12 and the image receiving sheet 72 are fed while they receive predetermined pressure and the ink bonded to the photosensitive sheet 12 is transferred to the image receiving sheet 72.

CONSTITUTION:In an image forming material constituted by forming a backing layer, a base body, a photosensitive resin layer, and a protective layer in the described order, a material causing a change in a hue or color density by exposure is added to a water-soluble protective layer at a photosensitive resin layer side. In this case, a material having a small oxygen permeability, for example, polyvinyl alcohol, is preferably added to the water-soluble protective layer. Suitable material generating a change of hue or color density by the exposure is phenol phthalein, etc. Thus, judgement immediately after exposure whether an appropriate exposure is applied or not has become possible.
