    • PURPOSE:To prevent degradation in durability of a tire due to the growth and development of cracks by dividing reinforcing elements in a rubber sheathed layer into bundles, each of which consists of several reinforcing elements, and enlarging the distribution spacing between the bundle and an adjacent reinforcing element. CONSTITUTION:The belt 2 of a radial tire 1 is generally used as a rubber- sheathed layer in which reinforcing elements made of steel monofilaments 3 arranged in parallel and diagonally to the equatorial face of the tire, are buried. In this case, with the above belt 2, in a conventional example shown in the upper column (a) in Figure, the arrangement of the steel monofilaments 3 in the rubber-sheathed layer is set for the monofilaments to be equally (s) spaced. Conversely, in an embodiment shown in the lower column (b), the steel monofilaments 3 are divided into bundles, each of which consists of several monofilaments and which are arranged at wider distribution spacing delta. Thus, the growth of cracks between adjacent reinforcing elements 3 located the distribution spacing delta apart is delayed depending on the distribution spacing delta, and thereby the enlargement of cracks capable of rapidly inducing belt-separation between laminated layers of the belt 2 can be effectively restricted.

    • PURPOSE:To reduce heat and strains at the top part of a carcass to improve the durability of a bead part by arranging a hard rubber sheet so as to overlap up to above a folded end part of the carcass, and arranging a surface layer rubber outside the hard rubber sheet in the direction of rotary shaft. CONSTITUTION:The lengthwise extending outer peripheral surface of a carcass ply cord 26 is covered with a ply coating rubber 28. A hard rubber sheet 29 is arranged on the outside of a folded end part 10A of a carcass in the direction of rotary shaft. Further, the portion surrounded by the folded end part 10A, the hard rubber sheet 29, and a steel cord 14 is filled with a soft rubber 30. In this case, the hard rubber sheet 29 is arranged so as to overlap up to above the cut section of the carcass. The difference between the rigidity of the carcass ply cord 26 and the rigidity of the soft rubber 30 near the cut section of the carcass is thus reduced, and thereby local concentration of strains can be eliminated.

    • PURPOSE:To effectively improve the durability of a belt in a folding structure belt having a reinforced tread by arranging reinforcing elements to form the strips of the belt so that each folded back layers of the reinforcing elements may mutually intersect with divergence of a half pitch. CONSTITUTION:A tire 1 is provided with a toroidal carcass 2 to reinforce a body and a folding structure belt 4 surrounding the crown of the carcass 2 in a rubber part of a tread 3 to reinforce the tread. The belt 4 is formed of strips made of many cords which are oriented in a wave form to serve as a reinforcing element 7 and coated with rubber having low modulus of elasticity. In this case, each layer of the reinforcing element 7 in the folded back portion 6 of the belt 4 is arranged to mutually intersect with divergence of an about half pitch. Thus the separation of the belt 4 can be prevented to improve its durability without damaging its cornering characteristics.

It is possible to improve a belt with no need for using an additional reinforcing layer jointly and yet so as to be possible to satisfy performance needed for the belt profitably with that reinforcing elements 7 for the second strip 3 formed in two layers are arranged in parallel to each other at an angle of inclination in a range of 30-60 deg. to the equatorial plane of the tire, and the first and the second stripes 2, 3 form a stratified structure for functioning as the belt contributing to strengthen the crown of a tread-like carcass 4.

    • PURPOSE:To enable secureness of durability in a bead portion required for elongation of regenerative lifetime of a heavy loaded radial tire by constituting a carcass profile in such a way as to generate a compressive stress in the bead portion near the winding-up end of a ply together with deformation of a carcass with a standard inner pressure filled. CONSTITUTION:The curvature varying region (upsilon) of a carcass passline bypasses toward the winding-up portion of a ply at a self-standing attitude filled with 5% of a standard inner pressure under an unloaded condition with rims braided. Under such a condition that the standard inner pressure is filled as shown by a dashed line, the passline of a carcass 4 deforms smoothly and continuously together with the expansion deformation of a tire on the basis of the inner pressure so that a compressive stress is generated inside a bead portion 1 near the winding-up end of the ply, thereby decreasing tensile strain. The compressive stress reduces the tensile strain under the unloaded condition with the inner pressure filled so as to bring about effective reduction of the tensile strain in the winding-up end of the ply in the bead portion at the time of traveling of the tire, thus suitably avoiding any trouble in the bead portion.

    • PURPOSE:To enhance the rigidity of the sidewall portion of a tyre by disposing a reinforcing layer formed by the lamination of two organic fiber cord layers in mutually intersected relationship inside a carcass ply which goes from the shoulder portion to the bead portion via the sidewall portion of the tyre. CONSTITUTION:A tyre is provided with a carcass 1 formed by turning one piece of turn-up ply from the inside back to the outside in the circumference of a bead core 5 and a belt layer 2 formed by the lamination of plural cord layers of steel cord in mutually intersected relationship. In this case, two pieces of putty formed of organic fiber cord are laminated to each other in such a manner that their respective cords may intersect with each other so as to form a reinforcing layer 3. And the reinforcing layer 3 is disposed along the inner side of the carcass 1 from the shoulder portion including the end of the belt layer 2 to the area in the bead portion where the turn-up portion of the carcass ply is located via the sidewall portion of the tyre. The rigidity of the sidewall portion is thus surely and simply enhanced.

    • PURPOSE:To secure stability of a tread portion and reduce strain created between second and third belt plies, by interposing an insert ply between first and second belt plies. CONSTITUTION:The tire includes a carcass 2 having a single-layered ply and a belt 3 composed of first to fourth belt plies each having three-layered cords, which plies are arranged over the carcass 2. The cords of the second and third belt plies 3-2 and 3-3 are intersected with each other with respect to a center circumferential line of the tire, and are arranged at 10-30 deg.C to the center circumferential line. A pair of insert plies 4 are provided between the first and second belt plies 3-1 and 3-2. The insert plies 4 have a tensile elastic modulus of 2.0X10 -6.0X10 kgf/cm per unit width in a direction of cords. The cords of the insert plies 4 are intersected with each other with respect to the center circumferential line of the tire, and are arranged at 30-50 deg.C to the center circumferential line.
