    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide dies, where a high strength steel sheet is pressed by a die quenching process and a molding having excellent fatigue strength can be obtained.
      SOLUTION: The hot forming die is a pair of upper and lower hot forming dies operating to a vertical direction. The face in contact with a work in at least either the upper die or the lower die is provided with a plurality of almost spherical dents forming air layers in a space with the work, and the diameter r [mm] of each dent and the center distance d [mm] satisfy the inequalities of 2r+0.2≥d≥2r-0.6, 1.1≥r≥0.6 and d≥1.2. In the hot forming method, a steel sheet comprising, by mass, 0.1 to 0.4% C, ≤0.5% Si and 0.2 to 4% Mn, and the balance Fe with inevitable impurities is heated at 800 to 1,100°C, and is pressed by the hot forming die.

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent the quick wearing of a tool in the case of boring and trimming, regarding a hot-pressing method of a steel material, and a die apparatus.
      SOLUTION: The steel material M is heated to its quenching temperature and the heated steel material M is introduced into the interval between an upper die 10 and a lower die 12, in the die apparatus set in a pressing machine and the pressing-formation is performed with the matching of the dies 10, 12. The die is provided with a die cushion and a little relative movement is performed after matching the dies, and the boring and the trimming are performed with a working edge 22 and a trimming edge 26 at non-hardening time of the steel material during this movement. The steel material receives the rapid cooling with intense sticking between the low temperature dies and the steel material under high pressure when die cushion springs 20 are positioned to the shortest portion, and the quenching is performed.

One first clamp means 22 is a tight-clamp means to hold and fix the flange part 13, and a plurality of second clamp means 23 are loose-clamp means to loosely clamp the flange part 13 while permitting the heated article 10 to be curved and deformed such that the heated quenched area is positioned on the projected side.
