    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a centerless grinding machine which can manufacture a double-tapered roller which is a short rotating body involving non-cylindrical outer diameter surfaces at a low cost with high finishing accuracy by using a centerless grinding technique which has high processing precision and high processing efficiency. SOLUTION: This centerless grinding machine is used for centerless grinding, by in-feed, both the conical surfaces Wa, Wb of a double-tapered roller W, in which the grinding surface 1a of a grinding wheel 1 and the rotation supporting surface 2a of a regulating wheel 2 have profiles which meet both the conical surfaces Wa, Wb of the double-tapered roller W respectively, and at which supporting surfaces of a blade support both the conical surfaces Wa, Wb of the double-tapered roller W so that its rotational center line may be in parallel to the axis of the grinding wheel 1. A rotary dresser involves dresser surfaces with a profile which meets the grinding surface 1a of the grinding wheel 1 and the rotation supporting surface 2a of the regulating wheel 2. As a result, the double-tapered rollers are ground in bulk without generating an inclination or the like in a stably aligning condition all the time, a plurality of them at a time. As a result, it is possible to execute mass-production process of a number of double-tapered rollers continuously and automatically, thus attaining large reduction in manufacturing cost largely by mass production processing.

    • PURPOSE: To polish a bar member along the axial direction by installing such a mechanism as making an optionally rotating polishing member and an optionally rotating work relatively move in front and in the rear. CONSTITUTION: When a power source is put into circuit, a rotative driving source 9 for rotating a first work W and a rotative driving source 23 for rotating a second polishing member 30 are rotated by a fixed angle and stopped. Receiving this stop signal, a slide device 15 operates and a mount 14 starts to move in front and in the rear. With this longitudinal motion of this mount 14, the work W is polished by a polishing member 30 along the longitudinal direction. Then, it is polished for the specified time, the mount 14 comes to a stop. With this stop signal, the first rotative driving source 9 and the second rotative driving source 23 are rotated by the specified angle again. With these operations repeated, the work W is polished over the whole surface in the longitudinal direction.
