    • PURPOSE:To prevent generation of defects in a wire during a drawing process following to a roll forging process, at drawing through a die a thin wire of such a high melting poit metal as tungsten, by controlling the pressure and velocity of a chuck holding the end of a rod material to a prescribed range. CONSTITUTION:An ingot is prepared by pressing and sinterng a high melting point metallic powder; this ingot is then subjected to a roll forging process so as to successively reduce the diameter; then, thus prepared rod is drawn through a die into a wire in a prescribed diameter. In this wire drawing process, Aqua-dag is applied to the rod surface, and the rod is heated; then, the hot rod is drawn through a sintered carbide die in order to reduce its diameter gradually; hereupon, if the pressure of chucking the rod end is weak, the wire drawing is impractical, whereas, is the pressure is too high, the rod surface is injured with many defects. If the wire drawing speed is slow, the friction increases and causes cracks, whereas, if the speed is too high, the rod end is hurted with many defects.

    • PURPOSE:To apply the efficient cold drawing work to the inner surface of the metalllic pipe in order to form the spiral groove with high quality, by holding the tip of the pipe blank with the rotary chuck, and by forcibly revolving and feeding the pipe blank while keeping the revolving angle approximately equal to the leading angle of the sprial groove to be formed. CONSTITUTION:At manufacturing the metallic pipe provided with the spiral groove in its inner surface, at first, a drawing work is applied to the tip of the pipe blank 2, and at the same time, the spiral groove 29 fitting to the spiral rib 11 of the plug 12 is formed in the inner surface of the pipe blank 2. Next, the tip of the pipe blank 2 is passed through the die 6 and is grasped by the rotary chuck 1, and besides, the mandrel 10 is inserted into the pipe blank 2, and the plug 12 is screwed into the groove 29 of the forefront inner surface of the pipe blank 2. Then, while forcibly revolving the pipe blank 2 by the chuck 1, a forward feed is given to the pipe blank 2; hereby, the pipe blank 2 is passed through the die 6 and is drawn to contract its diameter, and at the same time, the groove 29 is continuously cold-formed in the inner surface of the pipe blank 2 by the plug 12. Hereupon, the ratio between the feeding speed of the chuck 1 and its rotational speed are set so as to make the revolving angle of the pipe blank 2 almost equal to the leading angle of the rib 11 of the plug 12.

    • An elongated lever pivotable on a drum for winding a drawn product, between an extended position and a withdrawn position in which it is withdrawn into a cavity in the drum and reconstitutes the wall of the drum, carries a drawn product end gripping mechanism pivotable on the lever. The cavity is upwardly inclined, relative to the direction of rotation of the drum about its axis, from the lower edge of the drum. The element is a cranked lever having a first arm having an elongated shape roughly corresponding to the shape of the cavity and a U-section and a second shorter arm extending inside the drum. The lever is mounted by its cranked portion in the upper end of the cavity to pivot about an axis oblique relative to the axis of the drum. The gripping mechanism is mounted between the branches of the U-section at the end of the first arm remote from the second arm to pivot in the plane of the first arm.
