CONSTITUTION:In the case of forming a grindstone layer 6 of the outer peripheral end face of a grindstone base metal 2 by a powder metallurgical method, the quantity of super abrasive grains 4, 4' contained in the unit volume of the grindstone layer 6, i.e., the concentricity is freely adjusted to adapt for the quality of the material to be cut. Moreover, a mono-abrasive grain layer 7 is formed on both side faces of this grindstone layer 6 to allow to participate in cutting directly. A rotating grindstone 1 of good sharpness and yet long life can be obtained together with an autogenous edging action by the soft metal bonding material of the grindstone layer 6.

CONSTITUTION:When an electrodeposition grinding stone is used to grind an object to be ground, at the time of grinding, the pressure works on a grinding grain 33, at first works on a matrix 31 by which the grinding grain 33 is held, and finally works on a substrate 1. As the matrix 31 is formed of a hard nickel, movement of the grinding grain 33 in the matrix 31 is small. In the matrix 31 between the grinding grain 33 and the substrate 1, a diamond harder than nickel, or a small grain body 32 composed of cubic system boron nitride, which is harder than the matrix alone of the nickel between the grinding grain 33 and the substrate 1. The grinding grain on which grinding force works is held in the small grain body 32, and the pressure is distributed.

    • PURPOSE:To carry out a dressing process without any damage on the peripheral surface of a grinding area, by subjecting a dresser, at first to plunge feed toward the non- grinding area of the peripheral surface of a grinding wheel and to traverse feed after the dresser makes contact with the non-grinding area, and forcing the dresser to continue its cut-in process until it comes in contact with the peripheral surface of the grinding area. CONSTITUTION:A dresser 3 is forced at first to face the peripheral surface (b range) of the non-grinding area 8 out of peripheral surface 4 of a grinding wheel 2, then subjected to plunge feed until it comes in contact with said non-grinding area 8. When this contact is detected by a vibration detecting sensor 9, a numerical control unit drives both a longitudial feeding unit 10 and a traverse feeding unit 11 via driving circuits so as to subject the dresser 3 to traverse feed to make cut-in process step by step. Then, when it is detected, by the vibration detecting sensor 9, that the dresser has arrived at the peripheral surface (a range) of a grinding area 7, the dresser 3 is subjected to traverse feed preset times to make cut-in process so that correction on the peripheral surface 4 of the grinding wheel may be completed. Thus, it is possible to carry out correction on the peripheral surface of the grinding wheel efficiently and in a short time.

    • PURPOSE:To get rid of any deflection as well as to form it into such a stone surface that is excellent sharpness, by setting the extent of truing frequency for a grindstone, while making a feed pitch of a truer per rotation smaller other than the last time and the feed pitch of the truer per rotation larger at the last one time alone. CONSTITUTION:Traverse frequency (n) (truing frequency) of a truer 22 is set up by an input unit 41, and it is stored in a memory 33. Next, the truer 22 is rotated at high speed, making it go forward in rapid traverse to a grindstone 12, and further infeed is given to the stone, whereby truing takes place with the set traverse frequency n-1. With this, since a truing quantity per reciprocation of a traverse 1 is much enough, deflection of the grindstone is removed. In succession, a revolving speed of the truer 22 is controlled to be low speed, giving infeed to it, the last one time traverse is carried out. With this constitution, since a feed pitch of the truer in the traverse direction per rotation is large enough, such a stone surface that is excellent in sharpness is formed.

    • PURPOSE:To unify the extent of the wear of a grinding wheel by constituting a system where the circular edge of a cup-shape grinding wheel is used as a grinding plane and this plane and a workpiece are so positioned as to permit its grinding throughout the plane. CONSTITUTION:A workpiece W is fixed to the main spindle 35 of a head stock 31 via a chuck 36, and so rotated that the processing surface Wa of the workpiece W will be ground in contact with the circular grinding plane 21a of a cup-shape grinding wheel 21 rotatable as fitted to a grinding wheel head 14. And the said head stock 31 is made to move in a Y-direction and the grinding wheel head 14 in an X-direction and a Z-direction as perpendicular to this paper. In this instance, the position of the grinding wheel head 14 in an X-direction and that of the head stock 31 in a Y-direction are so controlled that the length Wb of the workpiece W will agree to the length of a segment V on the grinding plane 21a, and the grinding wheel head 14 is moved in a Z-direction for so positioning the workpiece W that its length Wb will be in contact with the fill width of the said grinding plane 21a.
