    • PURPOSE:To reduce friction coefficient by performing a composite plating for which solid fine particles having a hardness not lower than a specific Vickers hardness are dispersed on the surface of a work roll by using hard Cr, etc., as a matrix and cold rolling a rolled steel sheet with neat oil or an emulsion of water and oil spraying onto the sheet. CONSTITUTION:A composite plating is applied onto the surface of a work roll by using Ni, Ni-P, Cu, hard Cr, Fe, Co or Ni-Co as a matrix. The composite plating is such that one or more kinds of solid fine particles having a Vickers hardness of >=900 are dispersed in the plating layer. Cold rolling is performed by the work roll and spraying neat oil or an emulsion of water and oil onto a rolled steel sheet. At the time of contacting the sheet with the roll surface, actual contact is generated between the sheet and solid fine particles on the outermost surface. Hence, a friction coefficient between the sheet and roll is reduced, service life of the roll is prolonged as well as high speed rolling is performable without making surface quality of the sheet worse.

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To surely controll the feed rate and feeding part of a lubricant between a material to be rolled and work rolls in hot rolling by feeding a solid lubricant by pressing it against at least one side of the edge parts of the material to be rolled and abutting parts of the work roll on the edge parts of the material to be rolled. SOLUTION: The solid lubricant having a fusing point higher than the maximum temperature on the surface of the work roll during rolling is fed by pressing it against the work roll while pouring water. It is preferable that the pressing pressure is >=0.01 kgf/cm2. As the solid lubricant, a wax base solid lubricant such as saturated fatty acids and esters which are a solid at room temperature or the wax base solid lubricant in which added substances of the solid lubricant such as graphite and molybdenum disulphide are mixed is used. The shape of the solid lubricant is made into a square bar shape, columnar shape or elliptic columnar shape and, by pressing the one end of them, the solid lubricant is stuck to the surface of the material to be rolled or the surface of the work roll. The width of the solid lubricant is corresponded to the dimension of the edge part of the material to be rolled where burning is generated.

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a stable supplying method of a solid lubricant at the time of high-speed rolling when metallic materials are rolled and a method for controlling the feed rate of the solid lubricant adapted to the variation in various conditions of rolling. SOLUTION: In the lubrication supplying method of the solid lubricant 6-1 impregnated into a porous material, the solid lubricant 6-1 impregnated into the porous material is supplied by pressing it against the rolls 4, 5 of a rolling mill or the material to be rolled at the time of rolling the metallic materials while supplying the solid lubricant. In the lubrication supplying method of the solid lubricant, at the time of rolling the metallic materials while supplying the solid lubricant, the feed rate of the solid lubricant is controlled by changing the pressing force of the solid lubricant against the rolls 4, 5 of the rolling mill or the material to be rolled in accordance with the variation in rolling load or rolling torque. Or, by intermittently pressing the solid lubricant against the rolls 4, 5 of the rolling mill or the material to be rolled in accordance with the variation in the rolling load or the rolling torque, the feed rate of the solid lubricant is controlled.

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To analyze a sample of which the analytical surface has a curvature by providing recessed parts having a curvature in the periphery of the opening part for discharge emission of a cathode plate. SOLUTION: The cathode plate 1 for glow discharge emission spectroscopic analysis is mounted on a glow discharge emission spectroscopic analyser 1a with screws 15 and a recessed parts 3 having a curvature are formed in the periphery on the sample mounting side of the opening part 2 for discharge emission of the plate 1. These recessed parts 3 has a diameter larger than that of the opening part 2 and set to a size capable of providing an O-ring groove 6. The curvature of the recessed parts 3 is selected corresponding to the curvature of an analytical sample 4. An O-ring 5 composed of rubber high in the modulus of elasticity is fitted in the ring groove 6 and a discharge light emitting part 2a is stably held to a vacuum state. Subsequently, the sample 4 is mounted to be supported by a sample holder 7 and pressed to the opening part 2 by a press mechanism 8 to be brought into close contact therewith. By this constitution, abnormal discharge is not generated between the recessed parts 3 of the opening part 2 and the sample 4 and the sample of which the analytical surface has a curvature can be analyzed.
