    • PURPOSE:To enable an efficient takeout and occlusion of hydrogen by calculating the relationship between the reaction and heat transfer of metallic hydride and its heat of reaction, and further carrying out the operation of a hydrogen storage tank controlling the condition inside the tank so that the reaction rate of hydrogen reaches the maximum. CONSTITUTION:Inside a hydrogen storage tank 1 a hydrogen absorbing alloy 2 is stored, and a hydrogen introducing and takeout pipe 3 is inserted into the same tank 1. And on the pipe 3 a pressure regulating valve 5 and a pressure gauge 6 both connected to a computer 4 are provided. Further, inside the tank 1 an internal temperature regulating pipe 7, and outside the tank 1 an external temperature regulating device 9 are provided respectively, on which valves 8 and 10 both connected to the computer 4 are provided. In the case of operation, first, the temperature inside the tank 1 at a certain time is obtained by the computer 4. Next, respective valves 8, 10 are regulated so that the reaction rate at a prescribed pressure inside the tank 1 takes its maximum value, and at the same time the pressure inside the tank 1 is regulated by the valve 5.

    • PURPOSE:To reduce fuel for ignition and to obtain sintered ore having god quality by spraying powder coke in a half-molten state to the front layer of the compounded raw material supplied into a pallet and burning the powder coke. CONSTITUTION:The compound raw material 1 is fed from a hopper 2 and is continuously supplied onto the pallet 11. The pallet 11 moves at a low speed and the front layer of the material 1 is ignited in an ignition furnace 5. A preheating furnace 13 is provided in front of the furnace 5 and the powder coke 9 which is made into the half-molten state by a burner 8 is sprayed onto the front layer of the material 1. The powder coke 12 welded in the half-molten state is thereafter ignited in the furnace 5 by which the sintered ore is produced. Plural pieces of the burners 8 are provided at equal intervals in the transverse direction of the pallet 11. The ratio of the coke powder to be added to the compounded raw material is reduced by as much as the amt. of the powder coke 9 to be sprayed from the burners 8. The fuel to be used in an ignition burner 6 is considerably reduced by such method.

    • PURPOSE:To produce a billet having a high temp. while extending the life of a roll and preventing the thermal stress crack occuring in the quick fluctuation in temp. by inserting a cylinder consisting of a ceramic in multilayered construction onto outside of a metallic shaft. CONSTITUTION:An inside ceramic cylinder 5 is inserted onto a metallic shaft 4 in the transverse direction of a roll. The shaft 4 is tapered to permit easy setting and the cylinder 5 is also tapered internally and externally. An outside ceramic cylinder 6 is also tapered similarly to permit easy setting. The cylinder 5 and the cylinder 6 are fixed by means of metallic jigs 7 for fixing in order to fix the same to the metallic shaft. A material, such as Al2O3-C, having low thermal expansion is used for the cylinder 5 in order to prevent crack or to absorb the thermal deformation generated in the body of the shaft 4. A material, such as Al2O3 or SiO2, having high wear resistance and strength is used for the cylinder 6.

    • PURPOSE:To prevent the deposition of scales on a supporting member when a material to be heated is heated and to prevent the generation of flaws in the material to be heated by controlling the difference in temp. between the top of the supporting member and the surface of the material to be heated and the collision velocity between the member and the material in a continuous heating furnace. CONSTITUTION:A fixed beam 1 and a movable beam 2 are arranged respectively in a heating furnace of a walking beam type, and shifted width-wise in a soaking zone 3 to heat continuously a material 7 to be heated on a skid rider 6 which is transferred from the supply side 4 to the discharge side 4'. In this case, the difference in temp. between the upper surface of the rider 6 and the surface of the material 7 to be heated is regulated to =130mm. even when the rider which is water-cooled and contains 20-30% Co is used. The collision velocity between the rider 6 and the material 7 to be heated is adjusted to 5mm./sec, and further the surface pressure which is determined by the shape of the top of the rider 6 is kept at . Consequently, the deposition and the growth of scales on the rider 6 are almost completely prevented, and the generation of flaws on the rear side of steel having low strength at high temps. is prevented.

    • PURPOSE:To decrease non-metallic inclusions of a non-steadily cast ingot by closing the part of a tundish where molten steel outflows hermetically with a top gate and a top cover to reduce the volume of said part and blowing an inert gas from the bottom in front of the top gate. CONSTITUTION:A top cover 4' is provided over the entire part enclosed by the top gate 4 and side walls of the tank in the part II of a tundish 5 where molten steel outflows at the height lower than the melt level of the tank in the partI where the molten steel stagnates during charging of the molten steel to decrease the stagnating volume of the tank II. Then the amt. of the inclusions 6 flowing into the tank II at the initial charging of molten steel can be reduced and the inclusions 6 can be substituted quickly with the mold 9 side. Ar, N2 or the like is bottom blown from the bottom part of the tundish in front of the gate 4 through a porous nozzle 11, whereby upward flow is formed. Thus the function for floating the inclusions in the tankIis improved and the inclusions are captured by a tundish flux 10.
