SOLUTION: This fiber is staple made of a kneaded product prepared from magnetic metal particles (pref. nickel, iron, etc.), and a binder resin (pref. an aqueous or organic solvent-based binder resin containing polystyrene, etc.), and is produced by making residual magnetism in the longitudinal magnetization become larger than that in the transverse magnetization. It is pref. that the fiber has an average fiber length of 0.1-10 mm, the average particle diameter of metal particles is 1-50 μm and the mixing weight ratio of the metal particles to the binder resin is (90:10)-(60:40). The fiber is useful for forming a perforated metal member wherein metal plate bristles with metal-containing fibers.
