    • PURPOSE:To prevent drop of sealing force of a gasket without increasing a manufacturing cost of an engine by inserting the upper end edge portion of a cylinder liner into a bore of the gasket, and locating the upper end edge of the cylinder liner in a position lower than the upper surface of the gasket. CONSTITUTION:A cylinder liner 2 inserted into a cylinder main body 1 is formed into a thin cylindrical shape. A main combustion chamber 18 is formed above a piston head 17 inside the cylinder liner 2. A cylinder head 3 is disposed above the cylinder main body 1 via a gasket 4, to be fixed by tightening a head bolt 5. The upper end edge portion 6 of the cylinder liner 2 is inserted into a bore 7 of the gasket 4, and the upper end edge 8 of the cylinder liner 2 is located in a position lower than the upper surface 9 of the gasket 4. In tightening the head bolt 5, a bore circumferential wall 10 of the gasket 4 is interposed between the cylinder head 3 and the cylinder main body 1, thus securing high sealing force.

    • PURPOSE:To decrease the thickness of a cylinder liner by a method wherein a thick section part for reinforcement is formed to the end part on the top dead center side of a cylinder liner in a state to be protruded toward the outer diameter side, height is increased to a value higher than the depth of a screw hole, and a screw hole is formed in a wall thickness part located near the liner. CONSTITUTION:A thick section part 8 for reinforcement is integrally formed to an end part 7 on the top dead center side of a cylinder liner 3 in a state to be protruded toward the outer diameter side. A height H is set to a value approximately 1.5 times as large as a depth (h) of a screw hole 6 for a head bolt. A wall thickness part 5 for forming a screw hole located in a position near the exterior of a cylinder block 1 is formed integrally with a cylinder body 2 located near the interior of the cylinder block 1, and the screw hole 6 is formed in the wall thickness part 5 in a position near the cylinder liner 3. Thus, since the cylinder liner 3 is formed such that only an end part 7 on the top dead center side forms the trick section part 8, other portion can be decreased in thickness, resulting in the decrease of weight.
